Happy to be part of this community. I'm at work on a novel of historical fiction with a healthy dose of magical realism and some mythical characters. People kept telling me over several years that I had more than one book and finally last year I believed them.
So this has become a trilogy that follows six families, some feuding, who start out in the 1600s living in different countries in Europe and practicing different religions. They gradually decide whether to stay or emigrate to America and end up united through marriage by the 21st century. There is also a short flash back to the 1400s to show how the mystical characters got involved.
Some of the characters actually lived but are in fictional situations, some are completely fictional and some are historical characters, such as Josephine Baker, the poet Lorine Neidecker from Wisconsin, and weaver Gunta Stolzl of the Bauhaus.
This is my first attempt at fiction, but I've been writing all my life. I was a newspaper reporter for about 25 years and have published two non-fiction books. I look forward to working with and learning from all of you. Thanks!

We are a friendly group here and don't mind sharing. This is a good place to learn the craft of writing...your novel sounds interesting.
However as you wonder around the treehouse do be careful, you never what you might step in there's a unicorn loose and she, um-uh isn't housebroken--probably on purpose--and at the same time can be snarky.
