well i dont have net access quite yet, i havent forgoten about all of you nore have i gone missing.
so recall everyone who wint insearch of Rommel Fenrir Wolf II
i am in White Sands Mistle Range NM. it is a very cool place. the weather is not exactly what i like but the vew and the smell of sage brush and Cyotes are everywere.
my new unit is much better change from the 70TH ENG. although at times 2ND ENG has some comparisons to the 70th. i will get into that later.
i am in a "Glorified OPS/ Support unit" called MAC Company. its alright but i think it could be better.
al the locals and the civies who live and work here are very nice and are very welcoming. they are very excited to actily have a combat unit hare. the higer ups are very nice.
a the post Comand Sergeant Major actily gave me a ride back from chow because i was walking along the road looking at a map trying to find the shortest route back to my Unit area (AO). he is a nice guy and is vrey layed back for his rank and position.
the base General actily went with us on a 5KM BN run last week for his retirment cermony.
also part of Transformers2 was filmed here and if i had known at the time i would have been able to be a extra in the background. unforchently i didnt know so i spent my day cleaning and restoring my M1 Grand.
another thing i love about this place is i am aloud to have my guns in my house and i have been working vigorously to restore them. words of advice to anyone who is trying to strip wood sealint off mettel of a fire arme. burn it off with a gass stove. i got fidup with the stripers and paint thiners that wornt working so fire fixed everything. now i just have to reblue the metal parts that needed burning.
all in all this place is a welcome change to Ft Riley Ks.
(I am still going to Canada when i get out of the army for what i feel like doing is much easer there and they have free health care and Mary Jane is leagle there now from what a canadain friend has told me (remember Omaga? he is there now in the YK terotory livin a dream.)

Patrick, I think you would enjoy the movie, Conspiracy Theory. The MC uses song lyrics when attempting to express his love for another character.

Well when an Unit becomes inactive like my old unit the 70TH ENG BN they case the Colors (the unit flag and the flags of the company’s) the unit no longer is a standing unit and doesn’t even have a real chain of command, until everyone from that unit is transfused to other units or ETS’s or retires.
When a unit is reactivated like my new unit the 2ND ENG BN, (dates back to before the Mexican American War) they uncase the Colors and literally hand the new Commanding Officer the Colors and us Joe’s stand in formation at attention for about 1 and a half hours as the unit is stood up or stood back up, and listen to the powers to be ramble on about things we really don’t care to know. (I was asleep at attention for most of the ceremony to keep me from becoming boarded to death)
It is just a fancy thing that means the Army needs a unit to do a specific task so they pull a unit name out of retirement.
An Active Unit is like it sounds it has a definite chain of command and is actively doing the job it is told to do by the Army.
A Inactive or Deactivated Unit has no real chain of command. It mainly is just higher ups who are going to retire in a few months and just fill in the spots that are needed ex Sergeant Major and Colonel, and Company Commanders. Until there is no one left in the unit.
It is really not something special in my eyes. It is just a waist of time and energy. I am just happy to be in beautiful White Sands Missile Range New Mexico, and out of the 70TH ENG grab your ankles and squeal.
Also dont wory about the Baileys, i will bring it.
