I'm sure the Crouch/Hitler similarity is intentional. You just don't give an authority figure a short little moustache like that on accident. He also reminds me of the teacher from Pink Floyd's The Wall.

Mad Eye just doesn't look right. His face isn't messed up enough, no obvious chunk out of his nose, and his eye should fit in his eye socket, it's not a strap on.

I agree Mad Eye doesn't look anything like what I thought he would. The eye is totally wrong. Hopefully they will do some digital effects on it before the movie hits.

Strange, all the boys strapped their knives on their left leg, and Fleur strapped hers on the right.

I don't think Neville looks the way the producers pictured either. He sprouted and got incredibly tall and thin between the 2nd and 3rd movies. I don't know that anyone was counting on that.
I like the pictures, but I DO wish Harry and Ron would lose some of the hair. I'm excited to see the movie though.

Amen. I was thinking recently how choosing these kids in their youth was a gamble. I mean, you just don't know what kids will look like as they pass though that awkward phase.
In Neville's case, he turned out, well, *not* awkward.

He still looks awkward, just not endearing chubby awkward, which is what the book was going for.

They give him fake teeth and pale skin. If you look at his picture and imagine normal teeth, Neville is hot. Hotter than Harry, definitely.

Harry in the picture of the four of the champs before the 2nd task looks a lot like Frodo. And I agree he should lose hair, Ron even more so. Ugh, long hair does not suit him.

Yeah, but, I think half the point of the style of the movie here is to show the gloomy, awkward, uncertain side of growing up. All the kids certainly look unruly and moody (no pun intended). Should work.
I mean, sheesh, were you a model when you were fourteen? God forbid I show you MY high school photos.
And I've heard that Gleeson's performance as Mad-Eye is one of the most spot-on since Hagrid. There have been a few sneak peeks, I know.
EDIT: Also, in the picture of Harry smiling, I kind've want to turn all the colors black and white, turn the lenses of Harry's glasses pure white, and then, I dunno, show him mercilessly pummeling someone with his claw-like hands.

I saw the kid who plays Neville from about 4 feet away at the London premiere of PoA, and he is totally a cutie. I don't even feel ashamed saying that even though I am at least six years older than him

Kind of like Jerry O'Connell. Watching Stand By Me, he's the last kind I'd pick to grow up to be gorgeous.

I hope he's scotish thats how I pictured him. Other then that I ld would've liked a Sean Connery (even though that is not how I originally pictured Moody)

From what I understand, the way he plays the character is an old drunk Scottish crank. You really believe he's taking pulls of something more fun than polyjuice potion in that hip flask.

You know, in the books, especially Half-Blood Prince, Ron Weasley is supposed to grow up and become very tall, taller than Harry, taller than his brothers. The actor playing Ron looks like he is going to remain short, however. Perhaps they will have to change actors, or else go to the expense of digitally enhancing him in every scene.

I doubt that they'll worry about that. There are several other characteristics of people and the castle that they've managed to overlook, I'm sure they'll overlook the Ron/tall thing.
Porter, I'd switch it. As much as I love Elijah Wood (and I do love him a lot!), I'd say that he's the low rent versioin of Daniel Radcliff. (I just think DR is cuter.)

Yea I don't think they'll worry about Ron's height either, they didn't seem concerned with Neville's body. I always pictured Harry's scar in the middle of his forehead as well, but that could just be because of the covers.

Chris Columbus put a picture of Harry in front of Jo and asked her to draw the scar on his forehead. So there you go.

Rupert Grint is older than the other two actors, and so in the third movie he actually was taller than them. And it looks like he's still taller than them, but they're probably catching up to him. Oh well...my biggest beef with the actors turned characters was the fact that Chris Columbus, and subsequent directors as well, didn't even bother to give Daniel Radcliffe green contacts. So much for him having Lily's emerald green eyes!

I watched the end of Chamber of Secrets on TV the other day, and I'm really glad that the books are getting darker. Hopefully, we won't have any more ending scenes that involve about 600,000 shots of the 3 main characters smiling, sappy music, and the whole Great Hall erupting in cheers based off one person's clapping. My goodness, I wanted to throw up. Yay, Hermione's back! Yay, Hagrid's back! Aw, that was such a nice thing Harry said. Aw, that's so sweet that Dumbledore got up and clapped. Aw, that's so sweet that Harry started clapping. Aw, that's so sweet that everyone started clapping. Hey, let's throw in a few more shots of the Big Three smiling at Hagrid! More clapping! More smiles! Grand music! A few more smiles! How sweet!
Thankfully, the acting in the third was better than the first two. Granted, none of them are gonna win any awards any time soon, but the first one just blew me away. Wow. Hopefully we'll see continued improvement.
