WOW! Thats the first word that comes to mind! I am finally reading Seventh Son and so far I think it is such a great book!

My favorite character in the book, right now, is Taleswapper. I like how he tells the characters and us tales of the alternate American history. Just last night, I read the part about 'Old Ben'. At first I didn't realize it was Ben Franklin and then Old Ben said something about 'Poor Richard's Almanac " and I was like, " Ben Franklin! " [Smile]

This book is great. I like the alternate history, the magic, Alvin, Taleswapper, Alvin Miller Sr., the other kids, and little Peggy at the beginning. Hopefully we'll see little Peggy again! Please don't tell me if we do! I want to be suprised.

I got Seventh Son and Memory of Earth from library loan and I'm very happy that I decided to read Seventh Son first. If this book continues to be this great, well, I'm just going to HAVE to read the rest of the books. Though I gotta read Memory of Earth after Seventh Son.

Then I'll decide whether I want to read the rest of the Seventh Son series first or the Memory of Earth series. Hmm.

Wow. Orson Scott Card is quickly becoming my first writer at the moment. The Ender series, especially Speaker and Xenocide, is great, so is the Shadow series. And now Seventh Son.

I think Seventh Son is going to be one of my favorite Orson Scott Card novels. I know last night I just couldn't put the book down. I kept reading and reading. Thats why I'm so far in the book. I just got the book YESTERDAY and I'm already on Chapter 12. Granted, its a short book, but still. Wow.

Anybody else like this book alot? Please, no spoilers. Though I wouldn't hearing what you guys think of Taleswapper, Alvin Jr, and the altnerate history!

Wow! I gotta read more of this!

" Didn't realize at first that the book was alternate history until I read the part about the American Compact and George Washington being killed for treason! wow! Oh and Aaron Burr and Daniel Boone having a duel! Man! "

So, have you figured out who Taleswapper is yet?

For alternate history, I'm more for the next book, "Red Prophet."

So, to keep from spoilers, I won't say what happens. ^_^

I believe we find out who Taleswapper is in the third one...

Am I right in the order being Seventh Son, Red Prophet, something, Alvin Journeyman, Heartfire, and Crystal City? the 'something' is where you find out who Taleswapper is.

There are clues before it's directly revealed though, aren't there? It's been a long time since my first exposure to the series, but I think I remember not being surprised when his identity was revealed.

Is Taleswapper based on some person from early America? HMMM.

When I was reading it, I didn't think about that! Besides, I thought they metioned Taleswappers real name in Seventh Son...

Anyway, I finished Seventh Son tonight and man was it great! I definitly want to read the other books!

I still think Taleswapper is the best character, but I also like Alvin quiete a bit and young Peggy is interesting! To tell the truth though, all the characters in the Seventh Son were pretty interesting!

So I'm off to read Memory of Earth next. I tell ya, Memory of Earth is going to have to be really great to make me want to continue reading its series instead of the Seventh Son series.

I want to know what will happen to Taleswapper, Alvin, and the rest NOW. lol. Though, I don't want it spoiled. I want to read every single book..well as long as it stays as interesting!

So, in any case, I'm going to have to read the Seventh Son series sooner or later!

I'm rereading that series now, and I don't think I would've picked up on that one little sentence without this thread. That's really cool.

I'm reading Prentice Alvin right now, even though I haven't read Red Prophet yet, and I caught the reference to who Taleswapper is. I knew right away who that was. I avoided the spoiler, so I was suprised! [Smile]

As to why I'm reading Prentice Alvin first, well my local library had the book and I ordered Red Propet..but just couldn't wait to read more about Alvin & co. So I've been reading Prentice Alvin and I'm almost done with it. I do plan to read Red Prophet when it comes in. Thankfully, Prentice Alvin told some of what happened in that book, but didn't spoil the whole thing. Plus I kind of just scanned through some of the bits where Alvin was thinking about that stuff..so..hopefully I'll forget and be suprised! lol.

Ya, I should have waited, but I needed a book read! So I'll read Red Prophet, then I'll prob scan through Prentice Alvin again, then I'll read Alvin Journeyman.

Maybe I'll order Alvin Journeyman next time I go to the library. Hmm. I should prob just go ahead and order Heartfire too.

" Will prob continue reading the books, because Prentice Alvin is a really good book! Not as great as Seventh Son, but still pretty good. Hmm. I wonder how Red Prophet is..."

Thanks for the warning, Soara. From what I recall from Prentice Alvin, something really bad happens in Red Prophet. I'm sure that part will not be fun to read. lol!

As for Prentice Alvin, I finished reading it. I kept the book though, cause I want to scan through it after I read Red Prophet. Oh and I ordered Alvin Journeyman already. Figured by the time it comes in I'll be ready for it!

Also, I found another book by Orson Scott Card at my local library! It was hiding among the non-science fiction books...even though it is science fiction...

The book is Wyrms and so far its pretty good. Not as great as Speaker For the Dead, Xenocide, the Shadow books, and the Alvin books I've read, but still pretty good. I like the main character and her supporting cast is pretty good too! And the story has a lot of mystery to it and I keep wondering what will happen next. So thats good! [Smile]

I'm glad I have something to read till Red Prophet comes in too. I plan to finish Wryms and hope that Red Prophet is in by then! And I wouldn't mind if Alvin Journeyman comes in soon, cause at the rate I'm reading these books... [Smile]

DF2506
" Wants to read the rest of the Alvin Maker series and then wants to read the rest of the Homecoming series! Hmm. Wonder what I should after that. lol. Getting ahead of myself! [Smile] "

It's hard to come by, these days.

^^I..umm..actually had a copy of Wyrms once...but I wasn't into Orson Scott Card at the time..and I couldn't get into the book..so....I..kind of....let it be sold in a garage sale. Ya, I'm regretting that alot right now. Sure, Wryms isn't as great as the Ender series, or the Bean series, or the Alvin series, but it is a really good book and I wouldn't mind having at least one Orson Scott Card book around. Hmm. Oh well. *sigh* I gotta get me a copy of Speaker For the Dead sooner or later. Love that book! Also gotta get Xenocide and Seventh Son! Those are great too! And Ender's Shadow..and..well..there's others! I think
Speaker For the Dead is still my favorite though. [Smile]

Anyway, I got Red Prophet on Monday and I've been reading it some. Not as much as any of the other books so far though. Its interesting, but its very different from Seventh Son and Prentice Alvin. So far is much more about alternate history, then anything else. Its Chapter 4 and Alvin hasn't even been in the book yet! lol! Hmm. I'm going to keep reading though. There are things in the book that make me think it'll get better. I hope so.

I also hope I'll get Alvin Journeyman tommorow. I gotta wait till I finish Red Propet to read it, but I want to have it on hand for then! [Smile]

Orson Scott Card is such a great writer!
