ARGHH I AM ANGRY!

Alright, so I just redownloaded Shadow of the Hegemon from Audible on my new computer, and transferred it to my ipod. I noticed that they edited it, and one of the edits is good but one is bad. For one they fixed the issue with the Petra/Achille limo scene repeating, however they also made another edit which is quite annoying. I remember in the audiobook before they occasionally said "heggemon" instead of "hegemon" so they decided to fix it here... by having someone else cut in and say hegemon every darned time it comes up, which is really annoying to have another voice actor insert a single word or two randomly in the middle of a sentence.

RAWRRRRRRR!!!!!

Edit: And I forgot to mention that as a result of the edit there are slight skips occasionally. [Wall Bash]

While we would all like to have read these books as many times as it takes to truely have paid attention to every nook and cranny; why not carry the book with you instead of a recording? isnt it more enjoyable to have your own inner monologue?

I listen to them while I am at the gym, and I don't like sweating on books.

I listen to many hours of audio books each week in situations where it would be completely impossible for me to be reading a book.

The first time I heard the word hegemon was with Card's books. I pronounced it with a hard g in my head before I ever heard it pronounced any other way so the 2 are very interchangeable for me. In fact I'd say its as interchangeable a 'Akeelees' and 'Ashill'. But thats just me. I'd definietely be mad at audible (or whoever did it) for overlaying a different voice actors word in there. Better to keep a flow with the wrong pronunciation than to interrupt the flow.

Oh, I met a guy named Achilles pronounced Ashill at a chess tournament about a year ago. When he said his name was Ashill and I asked if it was the French pronunciation of Achilles he was very impressed. Yay for OSC!

Audibles version of that particular book is absolutely HORRID!!! DO NOT buy it. The first time I downloaded it, they had left out the whole part about Peter confronting his parents with his identity. Then they fixed that, but instead took out the whole part about Petra breaking captivity through silence. It was just..... bad.

They FINALLY gave me a refund, but never a good version of the book.

why are they messing with the book at all? Doesn't the copyright belong to the publisher? Isn't Audible just a distributer? I've been thinking about joining audible for some time, but if they are messing with books I may not join.

That's the only book I've had serious issues with. If you like audio books, it's pretty much the cheapest way to go, unless you have a good local library.
