. . .and liberalism.

*Plants flag on the board beach-head*
*Flips open big-ass umbrella*
*Plops down beach chair*
*Mixes self drink*
*Sits fat ass in chair and contentedly stirs drink nonchalantly while taking little sips*

Uh oh, conservatives, he has a flag. We could be in trouble. "No flag, no country. It's a rule I just made up."

*Plunks down a lounge chair next to Storm's and breaks out the beach ball and the frisbee* [Cool]

*grabs a margarita*

*remembers he doesn't really drink*

*drinks it anyway, because just because he doesn't really drink doesn't mean he can't indulge once in a while*

* guffaws *

Ahhh, solace. Instead of "Books, Films, Food and American Culture" it should be "Polysexuals, Pagans, Food and Liberal Culture" because, well, Food's still great to talk about.

Sun, it goes from like scalding hot to tepidly slow. I think there's no in between, usually. Someone either ends up getting into a flame war with someone in a thread or we end up with the tsunami o' fluff.*

*Not that there's anything wrong with fluffy people of fluff! Laws, no!

Farmgirl, I don't think we mean to be actually lumping people together. It's just that the homosexuality thread, for a little while, was a bit one-sided. Happened on another thread a few days ago, too. People just kept posting and posting, but they were all on the same side.

We're just lamenting the awfully slow nature of hatrack today.

I had never considered the possibility that some single people might be conservative or that some liberals might have SOs. You're absolutely right, FG. What was I thinking?

sorry, Storm, if I seemed a little "testy" in that last post. It certainly wasn't meant that way.

It's just that lately some posters (Lalo) have been painting some groups with a pretty broad brush, and it got under my skin a little. I shouldn't have to defend my right to my own individuality, and I don't like it when people assume certain things without knowing me.

I don't think Steve and I are liberal or conservative. Probably moderate.

Anyway this seems as good a place to describe our Valentine's Day, less you think all persons with SOs were out raucously celebrating

8ish am Steve wakes up
11am I wake up.
11:30am Steve takes nap
11:30am I shower
12pm I start catching up on folding wash, and watching TV alternating between sports and home improvement as well as occasionally munching on food.

3pm Steve wakes up
3:30pm Steve Takes shower
3:30pm I take my car to the carwash.

4:30pm, Having both decided to wear nicer clothes for the day, we go on our grand adventure.
A trip to Costco.
4:30 6pm At Costco. We buy a ream of paper and envelopes because we were out and some food items.

6:30pm eat dinner and watch tv
7pm begin computer time
10pm Steve goes to bed
12:30 AM AJ goes to bed.

Exciting day eh?

AJ

I remember those kind of days. I remember sleeping in.

My wife got up at 6 to go to the gym. She usually goes at 5, but the gym opens at 6 on Saturday. I got up at 6:45 with our 1-year old.

My wife was pleased with the big bouquet I set on the kitchen table last night, and the card I wrote. I also put crepe paper streamers on the ceiling.

I hauled off the old carpet that was sitting in our car port from our recent reflooring escapade.

We were going to get a babysitter and go hiking, but that turned into a sledding trip with the kids. Since we don't own a sled yet, we went out to buy one first. Nobody had any left. So we just went to the park and tromped around in the snow for a while.

We got stuff to make Chow Mein for dinner, and my wife ended up making it all (plus brownies for dessert) while I went and got onions and a movie.

We watched a romantic movie tonight after the kids went to bed.

The liberals can take over the board. Then I can play the victim. [Smile]

Sheesh. Diane and I are pretty much to the left of "liberal" on most things. We're considered "conservative" by those who think policies that sanction and facilitate the suicides or outright killings of old, ill, or disabled persons is "liberal."

I just want to make it clear, that, while Diane and I took a day off from political activism, advocacy and the associated drudgery that goes with it, we did not spend the day in France. [Wink]

TomD, that also means you and Christy were very close to Diane and me - we spent the day in Oak Park. We do Chicago when the weather gets warmer.
