Hobo spiders that is. Today I just killed the 10th or 11th spider in my home all of them within 10 feet of each other, on different occasions and all of the same species. But this one I decided to catch in a jar, put it next to my computer and google a few images of spiders and found it to be a hobo spider. Well, I thought I'd leave that thought with you. [Evil Laugh]

I thought spiders were good to have in your home since they eat other bugs. We don't ever kill ours. Is this a bad kind of spider?

Spiders are supposed to be a sign that you are not writing or communicating enough. Sounds like they are persistently telling you to write something:)

Clay pidgeons are... they don't even eat flies! Spiders are alright, they eat flies, keep them...

Mr. Gumby -- that's weird.

After you posted this, I went out to the web to look for photos of hobo spiders (yah, I'm bored), and came across this site:

http://www.srv.net/~dkv/hobospider/

which, of course, is interesting. But the main interesting weird thing is that link at the top of the page -- that the author of the page has been missing since 1999. So I went to the link jump and read about how he vanished.

I just thought it was strange.

foundling, it's funny you say that because I have a friend on a mission who I keep meaning to write to.

Anyways, after I put my last post I noticed that the spider, that I caught, only had six legs and was symmetrical, but it contained the same markings on it's back which were just like a hobo spider's picture I found. [Confused]
Does anyone know if it possible for a spider to have six legs and still be called a spider?

I dont think so. I think by definition an arachnid has to have 8 legs and a certain amount of sections. Maybe you are dealing with beatles. They can have six legs.

quote:
Some cardinal rules apply to persons that have been bitten by, or think that they have been bitten by a venomous spider...Preserve the spider (or whatever parts of it remain) and take it to the clinic with you. If you suspect that you have been bitten by a dangerously venomous spider, see a physician.
What? Take the spider to the clinic? [Angst]

OK, I'm sure that's great advice. In general. Just don't bring any live poisonous spiders to any clinic I'M working in [Big Grin]
