So I have this paper to write. And before you all yell at me to do my own work, I'm gonna write the paper on my own, I just need help deciding what to write the paper on.
It has to be Brit/European Lit and I have to be able to find at least 4 critics, in real books not the internet.
So yeah. Anything not boring or Shakespeare would be wonderful, maybe... Thanks for any help!

I did one on Rudyard Kipling. He's pretty interesting, and incredibly prolific with Novels, poems, and short stories.

Dumas--The Count of Monte Cristo (French)
C. Bronte--Jane Eyre (British)
K. Mann--Mephisto (German) (could be too recent; I don't know the details of your assignment, but this is post WWII. It's my new favorite book.)
You probably think Dickens is boring . . . but I like him, so Great Expectations or A Tale of Two Cities (British).

I know I have many others to recommend, I just can't think of them right now.

Conrad, because the critics have changed in their view of him so dramatically over the last 50 years. Would be really interesting to see what was written in 1950 vs the last ten years about, say, Heart of Darkness.

Elizabeth Bennet, also.

"How do you love?"
"Passionately- almost to death."

And what a way to die!

My dad suggested Adams, and I think I may do one of his books. I was just worried that I might not be able to find enough sources in a local library.

Ravenheart - David Gemmell
White Wolf -David Gemmell
Wolf in Shadow - David Gemmell

Sense a theme here ? [Big Grin]

Edit to add that these are my favourites, but anything by David Gemmell is pretty fantastic.

I did A.A. Milne once for a research paper. Granted, it was a biographical research paper, but still. There should be lots about him in the library, and he did more than the Pooh books.

Ok, I think I have decided on The Hobbit, but Tolkin...I found a lot of critics about the book and hey, its The Hobbit.
This is a good idea, yes??

Tolkien! Tolkien! Tolkien! Need I say more?
More good british authors (I did this in school last year!): Jane Austen, Rudyard Kipling, Stephen R. Lawhead, Bronte(the one that didn't write Wuthering Heights)...I'll let you know if I think of more...
