I have been a complete and total jerk to my parents lately (and 'jerk' is putting it very mildly), and now it's finally comming back to bite me on the butt.

My parents have been very supportive of my decision of where to attend college. Although there is a perfectly nice college in town, I elected to move two hours away, into a dorm with my best friend, A. They've paid for just about everything, including $100 a month spending money.

Am I grateful? Yes.

Have I been showing it? No.

I've been the most selfish person on the entire planet. My parents'll call, and I'll be annoyed. Just constantly, I treat them badly.

Well, I'm supposed to go get allergy shots about every week. Have I been? No. Did I tell my parents I have? Yes.

My mother was not happy when she found out. She has threatened to pull me from college here and enroll me back home, if I don't go to the infirmiry by today.

We've been having a slight heat wave down here in LA... And my battery went bam. It's too far to walk to the infirmiry and still make it there before it closes, and I can't call my parents to tell them... I think they might have unplugged the phone.

[Wall Bash] [Wall Bash] [Wall Bash] [Wall Bash]

And it's ALL MY FAULT!

I have to be the biggest spoiled brat and the most ungrateful daughter in history... [Wall Bash] [Cry]

There's a simple answer for this whole mess: Next time, do a better job. Remember what happened this time, and don't let it happen again.

You're lucky that your parents are supporting you so much, and you know you shouldn't forget that. So try not to. That's all they'll ask of you, and the least you should ask of yourself.

On a less serious note: [Eek!] 100 dollars spending money a month!! You're lucky!

Mayday, don't worry too much, you're pretty much behaving as most late-teens do when they spread their wings and leave home for college. It's the way of the world. It's a great thing that you realise it tho, so just make the best effort you can to modify your behaviour.

And do something nice for your parents.

Send them a card or something.

Do you find that the allergy injections work? I had them from about '78-'80 and again from '82-'87 and I never noticed a smidgen of difference, the same horrific allergy issues, but with the added dread of 16-20 injections a month.

As for the rest, well, it's great that you notice, now you can try and work on the problem, probably the best way is acknowledging it, and figuring out how to deal with the pressures, and stress without letting it effect how you treat people around you. Even pr!cks like me can be nice when everything's easy, and stress free, the true test is how you handle pressure, and stressors in your day to day life and how it impacts your relationships. I'd suggest simply figuring out how best to deal with your time and your work load, and how to minimize how it effects your dealings with others. Sometimes it can be as simple as just exercising regularly, and getting some sleep, which will give you better energy, some times a quick fix like taking a deep breath for about ten seconds, and sometimes you may need something like Yoga, or Tai Chi, meditation or some other methodology that promotes relaxation.

Good luck.
