Am I missing something really obvious? I have mozilla Firebird and IE, but I always use mozilla. I clicked on the thing to get the java runtime environment, installed it, but it still won't work. Is it possible to use Hatrack Chat with Mozilla, or do I have to install the JRE for IE?
EDIT: Does anyone know how to get it to work with Trillian, without having to have someone invite me every time?

If you want to talk to lots of Jatraqueros, there are far more who use AIM than parachat. Most times of day you can find anywhere from a couple to a couple dozen (well, rarely THAT many, unless many Myrs are present) in the chatroom called, oddly enough, "Hatrack Chat."

I tried joining Hatrack Chat through Trillian, but nobody was there, does anyone know how to get it to work with trillian? I don't really want to download AIM, I suspect it is made by the devil to bring souls down to hell.

I think someone may need to send me a chat invitation or something, my AIM: sbporter747 (I am aware that my AIM ID sucks, it was all I could come up with at the time)

I don't use Trillian, but have you tried adding yourself as a friend and then inviting yourself? That's what I do on AIM.

I was looking for something like that in the options, but it doesn't appear to be there, I guess I'll have to install AIM if I want to use Hatrack Chat.

I've tried to use trillian to connect to hatrack chat on AIM, but there's never anyone in the room (I'm using 1.0 pro). However, if I sign off and use AIM to sign in, I can see people there.
I think we should just go to IRC for chatting (maybe on Effnet)

Hmm. I probably shouldn't contribute to my own delinquency by pursuing the possibility of chat any further. But I agree with L and F about the evilness of AOL.

If we do IRC (which seems unlikely, since most are content with AIM chat, I think), I'd prefer Undernet. I do think IRC is better for group chat, and AIM better for one-on-one chat.

I tried inviting myself (I found it now) but it didn't work. Is the chat room "Hatrack Chat" (without the quotes)?

Is it case sensitive? Because I always go to "hatrack chat". Whenever my office firewall is feeling friendly, that is.

Doesn't seem to be. I sometime capitalize, sometimes don't. I think I had my caps lock on once, and it worked anyway, iirc.

Trillian is an instant messaging program that works with AIM, ICQ, IRC, Yahoo, and MSN. So instead of having to open multiple IM programs, you can use one.
Mozilla is a web browser which is based on Netscape, and has more features and security than Internet Explorer (when I say netscape, don't picture that old version some people still cling to, that one sucks).

At my school they still have netscape 4.73 or one of the 4.7x series, It freezes pretty frequently and makes doing assignments a pain. I don't think they understand that they should update it, they probably think it will break something.
