Man Says Wife Died in 9/11 Tragedy, But She Didn't

I guess I shouldn't be surprised that there are such dishonest people in the world, but I sincerely hope this fellow is charged with fraud and locked away for a long time. [Mad]

Wasn't this on Law and Order once?

I've only the show about ten times, but I've seen that episode for THREE of them.

The Law & Order episode was actually about an opportunist guy who kills his wife on September 10, then hides the body and claims compensation when the towers collapse, thinking that he has stumbled into the perfect cover story. Then later, the body is found, and he's caught.

That does bring up the question, though - how is it that easy to fake someone else's death?

I love the "my kids didn't mention Mom was alive" excuse.
