It depends on how many people are seeding it and the size of the file. It could take an hour, 2 hours, maybe even 3 or four. Again, it depends. I like dling shows...

What Syn said plus whatever bandwidth the other end has as well.
I have had some downloads take as long as 4 days. I think the least amount of time was around 2 hours. Bit Torrent tends to be a bit slower than say Kazaa (although I have found E-Mule to be EXTREMELY slow). Also the longer you are connected, the faster the downloads get (sometimes)

It also depends on how many people are connected. If you are downloading a show that was aired yesterday then you can expect the download to be finished within 3-6 hours.

I usually leave them overnight. Yesterday I started downloading Veronica Mars in the morning before I left for work and it wasn't finished until about midnight last night. Gilmore Girls was started at the same time and finished in time to be watched right after Lost. I don't know if I am just getting really bad speeds but I don't think I have ever gotten a 1hr TV show in less than 5 hours.

Back when I used to be into downloading stuff, I'd download ST:VOY episodes. The longest one ever took was maybe seven hours, the shortest was 30 minutes. I think it was from someone on campus.
On a side note, I once got a feature-length movie in 15 minutes.
