Link...

I just heard of them today. How do they compare to Kazaa? What's different/unique/better/about this product? Are they on the RIAA's hitlist?

Thanks in advance...

Suprnova is basically a giant list of bittorrent files. You'll have to download the bittorrent application to be able to get the files.

Bittorrent is, I believe, the fastest way to get large files like TV shows, movies, and applications.

Suprnova are a bit torrent site. They don't host any files themselves. If you want to know how it works, find out more information on bit torrents.

That being said, if the various anti-piracy bodies weren't tracking bit torrent transfers by now I'd be very surprised.

You really would just be better off buying whatever it is you wanted.

When it comes to getting my TV shows, BitTorrent and Suprnova together rock my world like there's no tomorrow.

Why can't anyone have Spawn and Gargoyles? Why?

Suprnova is the most public bittorrent tracker around. It's also the most watched by the RIAA, by all accounts. I hear the MPAA (motion picture) also watches Suprnova very carefully.

But the bonus is that the most you can ever be sharing at one point is a single file (unless you're downloading several files at once). So you'd probably only get convicted for a single file instead of with kazaa when you are held responsible for every music file you're sharing (hundreds or thousands for some people).

Bittorrent works on a upload/download ratio scheme. If you're limited to 15k/s upload, then your download will be limited as well. For people with a T1 or T10 line at a University, they routinely get over 300k/s upload and download.

Suprnova is awesome.

The site you linked to is not suprnova. It is something else which I have no experience with. That little e makes a difference.

i agree completley. i've filled up half a 160 gig hard drive with mostly tv shows and tv specials that i can't find anywhere else.

and yeah...that "e" makes a big difference. i've never been to supernova. But me and suprnova go way back. [Smile]

And if television networks would just broadcast their shows on the internet and then makes those shows available for download, none of this would be necessary. This recent wave of tv shows releasing seasons on dvd is just that...recent. And it's still not that many shows. It's like family guy. I had almost every episode on my pc. But when the dvd sets came out i bought them right away. The tv dvd market is a relatively new one that has infinite room to expand. Though I do hope digital broadcasting, and tivo, and on demand type services becomes the standard. And maybe music will eventually catch on too. [Smile] One of the specials i have downloaded is an interesting BBC special entitled "television: never mind the quality" dealing with these very issues.

There are many television shows I've sampled and then gone on to purchase the DVD sets of, because of BitTorrent. West Wing, Twin Peaks, Gilmore Girls, 24. I'll also be picking up the Nip/Tuck boxed set ASAP thanks to my BitTorrent viewing of the show. And I don't even think I need to tell you that I'd be purchasing any Wonderfalls set ASAP - a show I would've missed completely if it weren't for Suprnova. If anything, Suprnova/BT is making me a better consumer.

I've heard of several people receiving nasty letters from their ISPs (who had, in turn, received nasty letters from the MPAA). I haven't heard of any RIAA lawsuits yet, but that's probably only just a matter of time.

If you're going to use BT to download files, try to find some private trackers to use.
