I have tried over and over to find the answer to this, but so far to no avail.

What is the name of the plaid/checked pattern that I associate with picnic blankets? The pattern shown here ?

It's funny, it's one of those things locked in your brain. When I read your question, I was like.... huh, doesn't gingham sound like picnic stuff? Then I checked with a quick images.google.com search and discovered I was right.

That sort of "feels like it's associated" sense ought to come in handy for this nasty upcoming Board exam. Darn, I should be studying... (wanders off to read about the side effects of Isoniazid).

I always get gingham and paisley mixed up in my mind -- calling one the other, & vice versa.

paisley reminds me of some cartoon where a chameleon changes colors and changes into paisley at some point. I think it's when he's getting choked by the good guys...
