Though gmail wouldn't load... and I don't really know what an iPod is. Is its primary purpose for listening to sound files?

...my co-worker got a g-mail account yesterday. Apparently they have handed out a "few" accounts, then those people are given guest passes to invite just a few of their friends to gmail. Kind of like the beginning trials.
So far my co-worker really likes the gmail features.

so -- did you give her the ring while at the ball game?

Yeah, I got an invite to gmail, and have gotten to invite a few people too. Today the service seems a bit wonky.
They are trying really hard to break email habits people have in order to treat email more like searching web sites. No real folders, instead labels. Listing emails as blocks of "conversations". You pick a conversation and it shows all the emails in it.
But some of the interface stuff is really slick.
The iPod mini is a sound playing device, though you can copy other files... It's got 4GB of space in the profile of a business card (though it's about 1/3 of an inch think or so).
No, I didn't propose at the game; there was a bit weirdness about that though. Two people Karen was in swim team as a kid (though they were 4 years older) got married at the same game, to sections over in the bleachers. I proposed as we were gettign ready for bed (email me if you want details).

Thanks everyone! It was a pretty exciting day, and has been staying that way so far, with all the emails, phone calls, and we're already planning for a wedding that is at least a year away! Sheesh.
Oh, and can some rich Hatrack lurker who has always enjoyed my posts (perhaps even creating a little Bokonon shrine) please Western Union me, oh, say 10 grand? Yeah, I thought so.
And the answer to my question is that, yes, I get more responses with the word landmark in the title Let that be a lesson for you newbies.

dkw’s unsolicited advice for planning a wedding that’s over a year away: Get a book with checklists. One of my friends who works at a bookstore gave me this one. We’re not following it to the letter, but it’s easier to have a checklist to change than to try to create one from scratch.
And it’s kind of nice to have a whole year to plan – it means you can do a little bit at a time, and don’t have to finalize decisions so quickly.
