Anybody ever try this?

A friend sent me the web-site.

It sounds so Hatrackian, I figure someone must have tried this already.

I believe someone posted that link last year. I loved it, wanted to try it and forgot.

Thanks for posting it!

I had a friend who found one of these, and I thought about starting one but never got around to doing it. Perhaps I will, now.

Oh. I was trying to find that site for my first post in the "Are we cool enough for a swap thread?" thread, but I couldn't remember the exact name.

I really like all of the swap/freeing/geocaching type stuff. It's just a nice way to do things =)

I joined bookcrossings about a month and a half ago, they sent me a copy of Wild Animus which I'm reading now, and then will release into the wild at the end of the month, when I hit up an actual city. I also plan on releasing Asimov's Foundation and picking up books next time I go to a used bookstore. Usually there's a bookcrossing's tag that you paste on inside cover of a book, which I'll be doing, but I'm also planning on writing a poem to put with it.

Hey! I checked for books released im my area and there's one lying on a bench outside of the trainstation which is about thirty seconds away from here!

But it was released a week ago so I doubt that it's still there.

*goes to check*

I set a book free last year. Put up a notice before, tagged it, and everything. No one ever reported it. [Frown]

One of these years I'll make it to one of the local meetings. But they seem to have very low attendance, and it's not easy for me to get out on a weeknight. [Dont Know]

I tried going to a Meetup.com Bookcrossing shindig. Only one other person showed up, and she didn't bring any books with her, because she didn't really know what Bookcrossing was. So I've only released one book so far (gave VĂ¡na my paperback copy of Goblet of Fire), but maybe I will start releasing more.

And actually, now that I am working downtown I probably have a better chance of finding books, so I should go book hunting!

I found a copy of "The Glass Lake" by Maeve Binchy, I think. I read it, enjoyed it, and put it back where I found it on the counter at the post office. But I never reported it, because I didn't have internet access at the time. Cool concept, but I "lose" enough paperback just loaning them out without doing this. [Big Grin]
