The ole hootie owl hootie-hoo's to the dove
Tammy, Tammy, Tammy's my love.
Does my darling feel what I feel
when she comes near?
My heart beats so joyfully,
you'd think that she could hear.

Tammy

I think Tammy needs some love. [Smile]

Troubled, you
Asked for
My grace.
My love, here
You belong.

[Edit: and before Lalo can get in an "Awww yeah," it's a platonic love. *grin]

Of Course she's cool! Tammy's the first of my new kinder gentler minion breed. Sort of a reformed Uruk-Hai who wreak kindness instead of havoc.

Wow! I haven't thought about that song in more years than most of you have been alive.

(pausing to [Eek!] )

It was one of several 45s my mom had that I played and replayed to death when I was pretty little. Another one was "Istanbul (Not Constantinople) by the Four Lads."

With "Tammy," I remember really liking the tune and the emotionality in the singing. Being about 5 or so, I wasn't really into the love song aspect.

*enjoying flashback right now*

My sister, Tammy, hates that song.

It was great to torture her with when we were growing up!

He, he.

I recently found a CD version of "Tammy" and sent it to my sister for her birthday. She loved it as a child.

We got to enjoy one of our few pleasant childhood memories when she called. Quite nice.

I also sent her the signed CD from Janis Ian that I got at EnderCon. She really liked At Seventeen when she was 17. It kind of helped her through a little gawky teenaged girl phase.

She got over the gawky part, and has since become a self-confident, successful, and lovely woman. But that song helped her when she needed it. So did Tammy.

It made her feel sort of like she was a special kid (someone has a song with my name in it!!!) when two very annoying adults were mean to her. [Frown]

My grandma sang that song to me every chance she got. I didn't mind a bit, she made me feel special.

It was when we had big family gatherings, and different relatives would take turns playing the piano and having big sing-a-longs that I really didn't care for this song. It was inevitable that they'd sing "Tammy".

Of course I had my share of taunts involving this song. Silly boys and girls growing up, loved to sing parts of this song to me in taunting, teasing little voices. [Smile]

My mom chose the name because she liked the song.

I've never been so flattered by the use of the song as I have been today.

Thank you CT! Lovin sure is nice.

*throws some lovin right back at CT*
