In today's society of fashion conscious men and women the brief is getting a bad rap. Metrosexuals, fashion consultants and doctors are advising against the brief. I'm all in a dither. What should I wear now. I can't stand boxers and speedos and thongs are out. Can't do commando style either. I suppose I will have to be a fashion faux pas and continue with my tried and true fruit of the loom brief.

People keep saying that but I still don't get it. Briefs offer support; boxers offer freedom. How can you have supporty freedom? It defies logic.

I'm just going to have to buy some and experiment.

"Experiment" in the same sentence as any reference to underwear is not right.

Boxers are the best, clearly.

FREEDOM!

Ugh... I HATE boxers. They get all bunched up and uncomfortable. Give me sexy briefs any day! Especially the ones with the enhanced "pouch" for comfort. [Wink]

I choose the best of three worlds:
I have stockpiles of all three, and it's like picking out birthday presents in the morning when I choose what underwear to wear each day.

Too much freedom could get out of hand.

Fellas who wear boxers while dozing during college history lectures, thus relinquishing control of certain vascular tissues to their subconscious minds may find it difficult to move on to their next class without re-adjusting the accoutrements.

I'm right there with you, BtL. Seems to me that what you get from boxer briefs is insufficient support combined with a lack of freedom. So it's really more like the worst of both worlds.

saxon, BtL: How I pity your naive experiences.

[Smile]

Boxer briefs give freedom where it matters, while nit being as susceptible to the "bunching up" effect of boxers. I've worn all 3 types, and I only wear boxers when I'm low on underwear.

Another way to avoid bunched-up boxers is to simply avoid wearing tight pants.

I've found that the tightness of my pants does not affect the bunching up.

It may just be me. *shrug*

Wearing women's underwear, as I suggested in this thread solves the support and bunching problem. Hope you have a private laundry and locker-room facility!

Women's underwear does not generally include the necessary "fly," so I don't consider panties for men to be a viable option. Besides that, most of us don't want pink lace on our shorts (be they boxers, briefs, or the combo)

I have never used the fly on briefs/etc...
A, because the fly is SO small and uncomfortable to use it's best, and faster, to just pull down.
B, because most of my stuff doesn't have a fly anyway... [Wink] Yay sexy briefs.

Tel, I'm not going to comment on the "fly is too small" comment you made. [No No]

The reason I'm not fond of boxers is I seem to be too free. Normal action seems to precipitate a loosing of the horse from the barn on an all too frequent schedule. Constant attempts to re-corral the stallion draws unwanted attention and young mothers steering their offspring to the other side of the street.

T the S wrote the words:

"sexy briefs"

Those two words should not be in the same sentence, or even paragraph.

There is nothing sexier than boxers hanging out of the bottom of shorts(ah, prep school memories), UNLESS it is long underwear poking through jeans with holes in the knees.(ah, college memories)

I agree that briefs are never sexy, not even on Tom Cruise.

Various stains show up too well on white.

Also, the seat usually sags, suggesting that the cotton has been under stress.

Wait, yes. All women's underwear has pink lace, girls always sleep in heart pajamas, and they have whipped cream pillow fights whenever there's a sleepover. Just ask Dave.

ha ha.

It's not many people who are frightned of pink frill.

Now we all have something on Mack. "Hand," as it were. Threats of pinkly-dressed bridesmaids, a Pink Cadillac to take the bride to the church. Pink tux shirts on the fellas, accented with a pink carnation. Pink ribbons, with huge pink bows on the pews, defining the seating area of the families...

I've never had this "bunching up" boxers problem. Honestly, I love boxers for the same reason I wear relatively loose-fitting clothing: I like to wear clothing I can just forget about. I'm too conscious of briefs for them to be comfortable.

Also, the space allows for ventilation when wearing shorts (and I wear shorts whenever possible... nice comfortable loose-fitting shorts).
