You know, I can't say that I remember the story very clearly having read it years ago in highschool. But I don't recognize anything in that trailer except for a rudimentary plot outline. And really only the beginning of it at that.
If i remember correctly(and I may be way off), the story ended right after they returned from the past and noticed there was somethign different(the alphabet had changed maybe. at least that was one of the things).

Oooh, it was a great story and the clips from the movie looked like they were holding true to the original story! (no Will Smith fighting armies of robots here)

People go to hunt dinosaurs in the past thorugh time travel 'agency'. Agency tells people, don't stray from the set path, and shoot only this particular dinosaur, 'cause he's scheduled to fall into a tar pit and die then anyway.
Someone strays from the path, killing a Butterfly, and when they return tot he future, find that this one little change in the past changed the course of the future.
In the story, I think it was subtle - a political victory occurred to a regime that it shouldn't have happened to. I think the film is playing for more extremes, playing on the theme.

I think it looks very cool. I remember reading this story in Jr High, maybe even earlier. it was one of my favorites, adn I rememberd it as soon as I saw the trailer.
I Robot is a far cry from what happens in Avimos stories, but this seems closer. I know there is the whole "fix it" series of events that don't seem to fit, but the whole thing looked very cool and very well done.
This is a famous short story, and I am sure that there will be a lot of difference between the two, but I still think it looks great.

~~SPOILERS~~ . . . . . There was an episode of 'The Twilight Zone' who was made after this story. When the hunting crew returned from the past, they first noticed changes in the uniforms of the guys guarding the time-travel facility. And then, when asking who won the elections, they found out that there have been no elections... Ouch... Then the butterfly is discovered, and BANG, the one who stepped on the butterfly is shot by the team leader. The End.

Not true, the whole plot turns on the same concept. It just extrapolates from there.
They couldn't really make the movie follow the storyline to the T...it is too short (hence the name short story... ), and the "surprise" twist at the end is already well known.
And as OSC said about the Enders Game movie...the story still remains for all those who don't like the movie.
It was one of my all time favorite stories, and I would like to see how they worked around some of the ideas, ad the CGI looks incredible.
One of my favorite pastimes use to be reading that story and then imagining all sorts of changes, some subtle and some not so subtle, that could happen within the framework of that story. So maybe that is why I don't feel so offended that the movie goes farther than the story did.
I would be interested in finding out what Bradbury thinks of the movie.
At the very least, I would like to see the movie, not just the trailer, before i pass judgment on it....
They could easily create a feature length film with the original story. Just have the discoveries about the altered timeline come slowly, in a slightly disturbing "I'm sure that's not right..." kind of way.

I went to see I, Robot, expecting a good action movie, but no more.
Surprise, surprise--in a manner of speaking, the movie really is true to the Asimov books. It just compresses the whole timeline into a single movie. Is there a spoiler thread where I can discuss it?

I think the action-flick genre is kinda worn out. Dead, really, aside from this slap-from-the-past Bourne schlock. Is Matt Damon a real action-star(please vote nay)?
