I do think of Methodists as a pretty reasonable, safe sect. I guess it is part of the carefully crafted PR packace. This is probably enhanced by the sense that if Joseph Smith hadn't started the LDS church, he was leaning toward Methodism. I think many of the early church leaders were also methodist.

Their strange beliefs should be mocked. I heard, from a totally unreliable source, that they endorse an unproven birth control procedure based on Latin dance styles.
Yes, they would institute the "Rhythm Method"-ist.
They convert the insane in a policy called "Methodist to my madness."
