We went out shopping last night and I was sitting on a bench nursing and must've looked distraught because a Copps (local grocery store) worker came up to me and asked if he could be of help. I gave him a puzzled look -- the way he spoke I was unclear if he was asking me for help or if I needed help -- and he reassured me that he was a Copps worker and asked again if he could be of help. I told him no, but thank you and he walked away.
*laugh* I wonder what about me looked like I was in dire need?! I guess I was a bit frazzled because Sophie was screaming as I walked out of Old Navy, but we both had settled down after she started nursing. We were waiting for Tom who goes into CompUSA while I go in Old Navy I think there is a bus stop near there, so maybe he thought I missed my bus or something. Very nice, but weird.

See, Old Navy is a tricky one. On one hand, it's super-cutesy trendy-triffic, but on the other hand, they sell very simple and comfy clothes. I'm torn.

Old Navy has some great baby clothes. I bought the outfit seen here at Old Navy for Thomas, and love it. He looks so cool.

Well, at least they're NICE strange people. When I lived in Madison, I had somebody walk up to me on State Street to tell me that pet ownership (I had puppy Mish on a leash) was oppression.
(At the time, I had just finished "oppressing" Mishka by giving her about 1/3 of a vanilla ice cream cone.)

I almost had words with a woman that had strapped a binky to her baby's head a couple of days ago. I still am not so sure I shouldn't have.

Personally, I try to remember to respond to people like that with a simple and final "Thank you for sharing." Easier said than done sometimes though.

I really like Old Navy, but not because they're trendy. I'm a big fan of $6 t-shirts and their jeans actually fit me.
Speaking of which, I now have jeans for Annie, yaay!
Tick, I love their baby stuff too, but our store doesn't have as good a selection. I'm going to have to visit Vana in Rockford more often because they had a great kids clearance section there

I always shop off the clearance rack for baby clothes. Once you've seen how messy babies are when they eat... and that's considering Thomas is very neat for a little guy.

"Do you swear to bark the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth, so help you dog?"
"woof"

I wonder how someone could help you nurse your child with out touching your package, this certainly doesn't sound nice to me...

"Come on, Mishka, let's go." (Not very witty, I admit, but several years of living in Madison had taught me never to reveal my true opinion on anything.)
In response to Dag:
quote:"Do you prefer this nice big doggy bone, chew toy, and snuggly puppy blankets, with unlimited access to beggin' strips and tummy scratches, or would you prefer to make your own way through a Wisconsin winter?"
The heck with puppy blankets--Mishka wanted to sleep in the bed with us. Which was fine until she grew to her adult size and started kicking me out of bed.
We solved the dilemma by buying a bigger bed. Mishka was horrified to see us removing the old mattress and box spring ("But where will we SLEEP?" her eyes pleaded). Her fears were quickly assuaged when we brought in the new bed and set it up. She jumped right up, discovered that the new mattress had a pillow top, stretched out on her side, and sighed.
She is eight now and still sleeps in bed, esp. in the winter. She sleeps UNDER the blankets at the foot of the bed. I have no idea how she breathes under there.
Also: Beggin' strips are not the thing. Pig ears are the thing. Pig ears are like crack for dogs, only more expensive. At our house we cannot say "pig ear" or anything like unto it aloud, for fear she will be reminded that pig ears exist and that she wants one right now. Then she will start to whine. Our younger dog does not understand English but will whine because she knows that if Mish is whining, there must be something to whine about. Then we tell them to hush and they do... for five minutes or so. Then they start up again. This can go on for HOURS.
Mish is the most verbal dog I have ever seen. Not only does she have a good comprehension of English (for a dog, anyway), she has different vocalizations for different things that she needs and/or wants: there is a "water" whine, a "go outside" whine, a "food" whine, a "please move over and let me up on the couch" polite whimper, a "give me a pig ear now now now" Demanding Squeal, etc.
Seven, on the other hand, just comes up and stares at you, occasionally batting you with a paw so that you cannot fail to notice that she is staring at you. "Hi. Try and guess which of my needs I would like you to fulfill."

My dog is like a combination of those two. She only has one whine, but if you don't pay enough attention to her, prepare to be nudged until you decide to move.

Mishka is a chocolate Lab. Seven is a black Lab/Chow mix (she looks kind of like this critter, except she's black.)
