Suneun and Mike, My father asked about Lub-Dud again over Thanksgiving. I gave him your web site, and told him I would mention it here at Hatrack.
He spoke to the guy who books performers at the New England Hospitals, and he said the guy was interested.
No gaurentees, but it would be cool if the guy actually followed up on this, huh?
Who thought that standing on Mike's sholders at the WMASS Hatrack Picnic might lead to a gig...

Mike and Suneun are part of a four person circus act called Lub Dub. They had some pics posted, very cool stuff really...if you follow the link above you can see them in the Lub Dub gallery.
When we had the WMASS Picnic at Look Park this summer Mike and Suneun came, and I knew about Lub Dub because they had talked about it, both here at Hatrack and when I met them for the first time in Boston (when Bob_S came to town last year). Someone asked them about Lub Dub, and the next thing I knew Suneun was standing in Mike's head or something....once again there WAS a pic of it somewhere here at Hatrack (?)......
They also brought some juggiling stuff, and did some juggling in the parking lot while the rest of uus did some fencing with Makillian. Then Suneun and I did some fencing...thank God she went easy on me ....
My parents had driven up from RI for the picnic, and they were very impressed with everyone they met. They had been a little (OK, a lot) uncomfortable when I told them that my "internet friends" were going to be there, but after meeting everyone they told me that everyone was very polite, and that it seemed to be an extrodinary group of people.
My dad was the President of the local Lions Club last year, and the guy who books charity event at local childrens hospitals all over New England is in his chapter in Westerly, so when my dad saw Mike and Suneun performing he was interested. It turned out that Lub Dub had performed at some of the same types of events that the Lions Club ran, so my dad asked if he could forward their group to the guy he knew.
I gave him the Lub Dub site a while ago, but he lost it when his computer crashed shortly after, and he asked about them again this Thanksgiving. I told you they made quite an impression!
Hopefully the guy he knows ( fairly well, too...) will call them and hire them to perform sometime, probably at a childrens hospital or something. It is a win-win situation, because my dad looks like a hero ( ), the Lions Club is always looking for performers, Lub Dub can always use gigs, and most of all the kids will have a great time watching the performances.
Suneun, I was glad to do it. Anytime...I just hope the guy calls you soon!

hey, Clara, I didn't know you trained with Elsie and Serenity... I used to train with Bill last year, and a bunch of my friends still go up there every week

Awesome, dragon. I worked with Serenity on trapeze for two different weeks out in VT, and Mike and I worked with Bill for partner acro. They're great. I'd like to go up there again sometime soon.

pretty well, we just got a bunch of new kids and we've started training them. Not really planning on doing any real shows until the end of Feb, but the show then should be spectacular: it'll be a bunch of people who started doing circus at Pine Hill (where I used to go to school) coming back and performing, and considering how many went on to Smirkus and/or ENC...

Oh very awesome. Mike's applying to ENC this year.
We brought in a high school kid to work with us for the new year's eve show, which is working out well. He's a good guy.
Maybe some weekend we should hold a joint practice, both our groups together just playing around and teaching each other skills? We can meet somewhere convenient.

I've been too busy last couple of days to post. (I'm still too busy, but hey.) Kwea, thanks for doing the networking thing for us. It'll be cool if something comes out of this.
Dragon, who is from Smirkus or ENC in your troupe? Anyone I know? (Silly question, of course. But names -- I need names!)
