Last semester was my first semester of college ever, and I had a huge identity crisis, lasting all the way into winter break.

I didn't know who I was.

What was acceptable to me.

What my limits and strengths were.

I was always doing stuff that made me feel like crap later, and I felt lost. A grain of sand caught in the undertow.

But I learned that with perserverance, and the desire to gain that understanding, that it is a very accomplishable goal. I studied other people; their faults, their styles, their limits, their strengths, and more. And I reflected them back upon myself, to see my own reaction to them.

After this break, I feel so much more confident in myself. Who I am as a person. What I enjoy doing and what I am good at. What I won't accept, either in myself or others. What my limits are.

I could try to tell you who I am. I'm a romantic. I'm someone who loves to smile and laugh. I'm in love with music.

Words can't describe me though. I'm too complicated for that.

But for anyone who does want to know who I am, I welcome them with open arms and would be glad to let them get to know me.

Life is so beautiful. The depression. The elation. The pain. The ecstasy. And every other emotion out there. There's just so much to learn and experiance.

I'll soak it all in until the day death's fingers lift me from this awesome world.

I have to add that I went through a very similar crisis my first semester in college....it kind of lasted through my whole first year. But I remember that feeling of coming back the next year. Same college, same roommates, completely different me. I felt like I was going to conquer the world, and....

well. I did! You will too. [Big Grin]

Although I did not experience such an identity crisis (my problem is not 'who am I' but the more selfish 'who am I to other people'), last semester was my first university semester, and many people I know are still struggling with the same questions you struggled with. Some of them still are struggling.

I'm so glad that you feel you understand more about 'who you are' (it sounds cheesy but it's so true!)

[Smile]

Here's to more discovering in the future!

Well, I woukld give you an A+ in Melodrama.... [Wink] [Razz]

God for you...I rememebr feeling lost when I got out of the millitary, and had no idea who I was outside of that context.

Life just keeps getting better and better..don;t let anyone tell you otherwide. I am happier at 34 than I have ever been, and the future looks even better...sacry sometimes, but better and better once you get past that.

I'm going to have to raise a spelling flag here. [Kiss] Kwea

Finding yourself the first time is cool. I used to think I knew who I was. I've found myself a couple more times since then. I guess I'll plan on keeping up with that action.
