For all of you who have read Enders Game you know what happens. Aliens attack twice. Humans become offensive deffensive and attacks the buggers homeworld. After the war at the buggers homeworld, Ender along with sister and others colonize it and Ender discovers egg of queen bugger. He takes it and blatablatablata, rebuilds their society etc.
Now lets think about that, dosen't that sound familiar with this war going on now? Alquida attack us twice, yes twice, 1993 and 2001. We cry over our loss, but then President Bush says, we will find at destroy this evil(not exact qoute). Now in EG Ender discovers(well its bascally common sense) that earth cant be defended well from the buggers. Attack from anywhere, north pole, south pole, America, SA, europe, etc. Well wat did we also discover(once again common sense), this country cannot be protected everywhere. The terrorists will slip through and attack again. So wat do we do after the second attack, send our army over there. An offensive deffense. We have countless battles against the terroists and win, but we also lose soldiers. We found Sadam and destroyed his rule, in this case there are multiple queen buggers. Not just one, so one death wont kill all of them. So u can put together the rest. But what was the outcome of Enders Game, we won, they lost. We helped rebuild there civalaztion, as we will in Iraq and the middle east. You can also put world war 2 in for the war now, when japan attacked us. See this offensive deffense works, its called War. In time of war, peace does not create world peace. In time of war, War creates peace.

I think you entirely missed the point of the book, then. In the end, it turned out the buggers weren't actually a threat anymore, and Ender came to deeply regret killing them all.

Um... terrorists aren't aliens. They're violent and misguided humans, which measn they are far more dangerous.

Umm. Where is the Oil in this great analogy?

And, I seem to recall us having a GREAT DEAL of contact with these people BEFORE they attacked us, as a matter of fact, they were trained and funded by our own government.

So maybe Ender sided with the Buggs and then the Buggs turned on Ender, you might have a proper analogy.

...but it seems like you're on the "right side" meaning you can justify ANYTHING.

Unfortunately, Card's book doesn't make a good parallel. As for a serious discussion of the "War on Terror", I'm sure there are a heap of threads on said topic from last summer, spring, and before. It's been talked to death, IIRC. [Smile]

I wouldn't use the parallel with Japan either. The Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor, while considered perhaps the best sneak attack in history, is also considered one of the greatest military blunders. In attacking the USA, they sparked a war they could never hope to win. If that analogy holds true, then attacking Iraq will be our downfall.

I like how he uses a misunderstood reference to the plot of Ender's Game to say that this war must be fought. It's like citing A Christmas Carol to explain why we need to reform Social Security: because if we don't, the Ghost of Christmas Future will be mean!

Man, you guys are so behind the times! On the other side of the forum, I related the well known piece of scuttlebutt clear back on Dec. 12th:

quote:
I heard that Bruce McCulloch was going to play Ender, using his Gavin character as an inspiration, and that Robin Williams was going to play Bean. They'll use CGI to shrink them down so that they're the same size as the other kids. Dame Judy Dench is going to play Petra. That's the word on the street, anyway.

[Blushing]

Tom, you'll have to forgive me...

I have left this room once in the past week. I have done nothing but sit here and write papers, and today I have such a bad headache that my vision is blurry, and I can't even read them anymore.

That being said, I'm going to go make it more blurry by bashing my head into a wall...

[Wall Bash]

Seriously, I'm not usually this much of an idiot. I promise.

For those two people, but im sorry that i go to school from 7 to 3 and im not able to get on the computers that much at school(not alot of time on my behalf)

No one should, but in this judicial law "You have the right to an attorny" you must get one to make it fair. This man killed people in cold blood as Bean did the Achilles. He pointed and shot with his own arm. He corrupted the minds of millions(Binladian also) of people into thinking that this country is terrible for having freedom and that we alow women to do things in society, our differences and freedom make them hate us more.
I aslo heard somewhere in the post that someone said that the buggers we're misunderstood. Well the buggers did attack twice, but as explained in one of the boooks(forget) they say that they were jus expaned or something, or traveling and saw us and blah blah. Well even if somen like that happend to the terroists and they had an epihany and changed there ways, someone must pay for the thousands that died on that horrible day of 9/11.
We're also creating democracy in those lands or dictatorship. We're libarating those countries .They will start to make their own laws and rights will change. People will start out low, but like in this country of freedom one day everyone will be close the even.
O and i also saw somewhere else somen about the EG movie, and i cant wait! Its gonna kick! I jus hope that they can find an actor(actors) that can potrait the fantastic character that Mr.Card wrote.
