Good Heavens! I can't believe it - I dump on y'all throughout recovery about all the bad days and then don't tell you what's new!
Unforgiveable!
So, last fall I was starting to feel somewhat better - except that every time I traveled for work, whether flying or driving, I experienced yuckiness. I.e., driving time pretty much doubled due to the need to stop a lot for stretch breaks (like at least every 45 minutes), and even with that I pretty much hobbled after more than two hours. Vertigo remained intense, so that being a passenger was accomplished only through being drugged. Obvioucly, driving was the way to go, except it hurt so bad. Flying was a nightmare due to vertigo and nausea which increased exponentially and remained bad for several days (up to two weeks after the flight.)
However, I was better able to walk farther - even with pain - and do some simple household chores (like mopping and vacuuming) with frequent breaks. Scrolling on a PC screen was not nearly as disorienting. Some days were pretty yucky and painful, some days were mildly painful. Sleep sometimes okay, sometimes not. The pins and needles remained, handwriting took quite some time - headaches came and went . . . managed to work lots of hours on a big project for work, but the house went to pot - oh well. Nathan is old enough to require less intense care, which is helpful, too. And he was (and has been) a real trooper.
However, anytime I tried to stretch the barrier closer towards activity levels and types that was normal for me prior to the accident, things worsened. More pain, less ability to move my body, more vertigo, etc.
And then - wonder of wonder - I see a new acupuncturist mid-Jan. A collegaue actually called and made the appointment. I was crying at work, I was in so much pain. I couldn't even hold a pen. This person lessened the pain with the treatment, and I was able to sleep - which was a first after several days, again. and then - even better! - the specialist i have been waiting to see was able to get me in after a year's wait. I have seen him twice and the acupuncturist twice, and I have had some days with:
1. no pins and needles in my right hand for long periods of time 2. diminished pain, to where it is practically gone unless I overdo - and if I overdo, and then stop and ice/heat/rest, by the next day it's sore, but not stabbing/throbbing 3. decreased vertigo and nausea 4. increased energy 5. increased movement in all parts of body 6. decreased headaches
And a very hopeful attitude and outlook again that really - this WILL get better and stay that way!

*chuckles* No, I don't work with robots, skillery - it was colleagues that got me on the waiting list with the specialist and then hounded the receptionists to push on the list, and that got me into the new acupuncturist. They don't like to see anyone suffering.
Beren! You are naughty!
Thanks, Rivka, Derrell, Goody, and dpr! It is truly a blessing!
