They have a (relatively) new feature where you can have your friends see what you've been watching and what you rated the DVDs you've watched. It's pretty cool and can give you both insite in to your friends, and often good recommendation on what to watch or to avoid (depending on how much you trust your friends' taste.)
Anyway, if there are any Hatrack Netflixers who'd like to trade friend invites, I'd love to hook up with you. (I use the same email address for Netflix as I use in my profile here, not that it matters too much apparently).

*blinks* Why did I get a flood control warning on this? I haven't posted anything else today, I don't think.

I have added all of you. Don't forget you'll have to add each other. It's not so much a group thing as it is individual connections.

Boy! you guys are all newbies. For "movies rated" I'm pushing 1500. Syn is second, but he's only got 338.

I just told my husband what I did and he said, "Oh, well, we should probably take the Playboy and Girls Gone Wild DVDs off our list, then."

I don't know if I can take the ridicule, but go ahead and add me. Sounds like fun.
Just remember that Andrew is also on the account, too. And I have a weakness for man eye candy that doesn't necessarily reflect my taste in movies.

Um, I just realized I had no movies voted "Hated it" and that's just wrong. So, for the record, I HATED Disco Pigs. I have no idea how it got in my queue, unless I mistook it for that one about disaffected 70s youth I read about in EW.
It was weird and largely unintelligible, notable only for the lilt of (unintelligible) Irish dialogue, a protag that narrates her life story starting in the womb, and Cillian Murphy's beautiful blue eyes (and strangely off-putting shirtlessness).
Evidently, I invited SOMEBODY in this thread and now have no idea who it is. They probably don't know me either. Altogether embarrassing.

Now, see, I was looking at Disco Pigs and thinking, "Wow, that looks like something I'd enjoy, except for the gratuitous violence!"

You can rate any movie - not just ones you've rented. That's why the number I've rated is so obscenely disproportionate

I've done some of that. Now, granted, I don't spend all my time at Netflix because I spend it here, but I've done some.

Oh, and Disco Pigs wasn't all that bad. It was short, which was good. It was kind of obvious that it was a first time filmmaker. Moody, slow song while a guy gets his head beat in, though... EEEW.

Katie, we love Family Guy around here-- let me change my earlier recommendation to you.
I don't recommend you see either Meet the Parents or Meet the Fockers. If you don't like Family Guy, you're going to turn them off before the good part.

shoot, i realized i use a different email for netflix. it's the same thing @yahoo.com. Sorry!
Does that make a difference though? cause i added those that sent me invitations, and i can still add you through your emails, so non-issue right?

I used to hate Family Guy. Then, as I dled episodes it grew on me. I still think South Park is better. But, i used to like King of the Hill then I started to hate it and get annoyed by it.

I still love King of the Hill, but that's 'cause since moving to Texas, I've met people like that...

I've been on Netflix for over two years. I hadn't gotten around to doing the invite thing but now I will. My Netflix email is sewunicorn at comcast dot net. I'll harvest this thread for addresses later.
Edit: Strider, it says that it won't matter if I use a different email than you've joined under, that somehow they'll match you up.
And thanks to KQ - now I know that Wrinkle in Time is on DVD... Heather's been begging me to buy that one when it comes out!!

You said it sister!
That said, Chris also suggests movies to watch so I can't be blamed for anything you see coming out of our queue. But the ratings are all mine, so feel free to disparage my tastes mercilessly as far as ratings go.

I love the book, but there were parts of that movie where we were completely , parts where we almost fell asleep, and parts where I was so mad to what they were doing to the characters (especially Mrs. Murphy)...

I THINK I'm using blackfootandslim AT yahoo.com . That's what I use for my sign in name, anyway, but I vaguely using a different email on a page on Netflix. Could somebody try adding my yahoo one?
And forgive me for the lack of ratings. I just made this profile.

And I have my own custom names - mostly Hatrack ID's - on my Friends page for everyone, I don't know if those names showed up on the invites. I knew I'd never remember people by their real names or emails, so instead I see Da_Goat and Annie of the Pants (so I remember which Annie LOL) and so on.

So, all of you guys now have invites from me. I couldn't resist adding since I'm looking for good movie recommendations.

I plan to sign up for Netflix in a couple weeks. (If I do it now, I will have yet ANOTHER way to avoid cleaning the house and car, and catching up on errands and grading papers. That would be bad. Now I just have to keep telling myself that . . .)

I added you too, PC. Unfortunately, my tastes are a little weird. Maybe, though, I can be one of those "what not to watch" guides for y'all.
