I just finished reading "The Crystal City". Most of the action takes place in New Barcelona--aka New Orleans.

One thought kept running through my head over and over again.

Where was our Alvin Maker a few weeks ago, when the decendants of Moose and Squirrel and the rest needed a Crystal Bridge over Lake Pontachain so badly?

I mean, let's face it. 1830s, mate. Not even a Maker can indefinitely extend life.

Actually, all the descendants of Moose and Squirrel (and they themselves) were quite a safe distance from the city at the time.

Altariel wonders why Pop would speak of himself in third person, maybe he's got a multiple personality complex? [Big Grin]

"Prophesized"

Whenever I hear that or see it written, my teeth go on edge. It's just wrong, on so many levels. It gives me Bad Ideas about re-sizing Prophets, with all sorts of side jokes about fast-food meals in churches and men in robes with "Size Matters" printed on them. Add to that that only males are prophets in most religions, and the material just writes itself. "So-and-so just had to prophesize. I think he's compensating for something."

*makes mental not to sign up for that stand-up comedy class*

This obsessive-compulsive digression brought to you by Olivet, who is stuck in the boonies for a week, and not sleeping well at all. [Smile]

Or it could explain why he keeps showing so many movies at the same time.
