I've had quite a few comments on the little bit of verse in my signature line at the Serenity movie site. Finally decided that sleep wasn't all that important and wrote out the whole song. See what you think.
(Edited to update to the latest version and add writing credit)

Oh, my! That's great! Thanks for sharing those. Now if only the Firefly tune was something that I could actually sing.

Looks great! My only complaint is that you only mention the Companion as a whore, and River as a crazy girl without mentioning their names or even giving them an entire line to themselves. But then you had to fit a lot in there.
<trivia> The actress who plays Kaylee also plays the bartender's wife, Heidi, in the cancelled FOX series Wonderfalls.</trivia>

I know, that really took some getting used to when I watched the Firefly DVDs. She played such a <insert crude word here> on Wonderfalls, and then such a sweetheart on Firefly.

I found Heidi-Ho a sympathetic character in the end. She just wanted her husband back. (And who wouldn't? Eric is KYUUUUUUUUUUUTE.) Yeah, she lost him in a totally stupid way...
Great filk Chris =) When can we expect more?
(I love the fact there are so many Browncoats here =)
Don't forget Tim's new show starts a week from tonight (on June 8). Adam Baldwin (Jayne) and Katie Finneran (Sharon from Wonderfalls) will be in it.

what's the name of the new show? I don't want to miss it like I've totally missed Wonderfalls and Firefly.

In Gilligan's Island's first season, the song ended "the movie star... and all the rest."
Leaving "the Professor and MaryAnn to be added in later seasons.
The millionaire's wife was never anything but the millionaire's wife.
And at that, most of them were named only by their role.

Already planning on adding more verses for characters. This was a late night wild-hair idea, aided and abetted by Shmuel who kept my scansion (reasonably) honest.
I started a CafePress store for Serenity stuff (www.cafepress.com/bigredbutton)and someone at the movie site asked if I could put my sig on a shirt (it was the single verse starting with "Take my slot"). Instead I decided to write the whole thing and make a poster

OK, as reluctant as I was to like any show written by Josh Whedon, after seeing my first episode of Firefly today I have to say I really enjoyed it.
Nearly completely lacking the general corniness of Buffy and Angel it impressed me alot.

OK, as reluctant as I am to like any post written by jebus, after seeing his first serious post in a while I have to say I really enjoyed it.
Nearly completely lacking the general rudeness of his other posts, it impressed me a lot.
(although sometimes he's spot on with his humor and it's a hilarious result)

quote:I think that shows that the corniness of those two shows was deliberate and not a failing of Joss.
Well it is and isn't.
I don't enjoy all the corniness of Buffy and Angel, so I think it's a failing of his for adding them in. Just because he's able to write dialogue without it doesn't really change anything
Oh and thanks JNSB for the uh, compliment. Always good to know that some people sometimes don't think I'm a troll.

Jaime, there is something that rhymes with "pluck" and would fit in well given Inara's profession, but the word is rather inappropriate and some people probably wouldn't appricaite it being posted.

xtownaga, there is something that rhymes with "larcasm" and is often employed with false innocence to draw attention to, or show appreciation for, a naughty joke.
