Thank Hobbes for that! He started the campaign to extend the smilies and the moderators (thank them too) did it!

I used to hate the friggin group hug smilie until CT and I determined they were actually post-apocalyptic mutants huddled around a fire barrel for warmth.
Now I think it's cool.
Still hope the party smilies die an horrible, inauspicious death, though.

Yeah, that one just doesn't seem quite right to me. Could be because I'm reminded of the 7up dot every time I look at the party smilie.

Awwww, man! Smilies are soooo innocuous compared to DOBIES! If you wish for anything on hatrack to die a horrible, inauspicious death, wish it for the dobie!

I would have to disagree with this thread's title. The coolest smilies cannot be found on this board.

We're lacking the barfing smilie (though I think we would overuse that one sometimes. ) We also need some of those double smilies, like the dueling pair, the wedgie one, the kick in the butt smilie...
but our current group is much more fun than the old one, so here's to the evolution of Hatrack! <----favorite smilie.

Personally, I don't think Hatrack needs the fro or ninja graemlins, or any others that it doesn't already have. Mind you, those are among the coolest smilies in existence, but, to me, Hatrack will always be a place uncluttered by extraneous graemlins. Ninja smilies are good for GreNME and Sakeriver* and Mad Owl and even gsmaq (remember the gsmaq days?) but they just don't feel like Hatrack to me.
* which, by the way, has ninja smilies, in addition to fro and pirate smilies, and is still accepting new members.

Once feeling sad by a World Watch essay, I cheered myself up by reasoning OSC that they couldn't be all bad if he had a message board with such amazing smilies.
Better than signatures with pictures that are longers than people's posts. Or avatars.
