Just got a copy of "Joss Whedon: The Master at Play" on DVD; it's a talk he gave at a screenwriting expo last year. I posted a review at my stuff site. Great talk, and a hilarious intro from Nathan Fillion.
One thing of interest, that reminded me of OSC's comments about Hollywood, was when he talked about fighting the FOX network to keep Wash and Zoe married. They said no marriage. He said no show. They said, we're serious, no marriage, no show. He said OK. "I'm not making 'Melrose Space.'" They caved. Whedon went on to say that it was very important for him to show a happy, healthy marriage because no one seems to anymore, and marriage is such a vital, important part of our lives that it should be there.

He said something like "Fortunately they stayed together and they'll be together forever." (amused audience reaction) "Oops. Wow. Whose idea was that?"
