It is NOT the hip hangout spot, and it is NOT the place for you to sit directly across from me while I'm trying to write an essay and talk REALLY REALLY LOUDLY amongst the four of you in what I can only describe as binary in Spanish (they quite literally keep repeating "1, 0, 0, 0, 1, 1...").

Sometimes, I really wish I had a death ray.

There are only two types of people in the world: those who think there are only two types of people in the world, and everyone else. <grin>

How many people find that joke funny? Especially since you've used it here before.

pH- Start saying other numbers at random in spanish, then throw in a little vocab: "con carne" is nice, or a lot of "claro, estoy bastante intelligente." This will confuse them, and they will leave you alone.

Pffft. There are three types of people in the world. Those who can count and those who can't.

You know what works well to hush people at the library? Place your index finger in front of your lips, make eye contact with the noisy offenders and make a sibilant "SHHHHH!"

That'll teach 'em!

Loyola has an incredible amount of students who are from Central and South America. Jesuit school, good reputation, and whatnot. They definitely go out of their way to recruit from there.

Which Loyola?

In a loud, deep voice you should ask them, "¿Quién es más macho: Antonio Bandaras, o Ricardo Montalban?"

Then, just as they're about to answer, stand up and yell, "¡Montalban!"

Thank god you're on the ball, Orincoro; I shudder to think where we'd be if you weren't policing other people's jokes to make sure they were original enough.

If only you'd been here to prevent the Great Knock-Knock Joke Massacre of 2001.

pH, this is the librarian in me speaking : if you can't make them shut up by yourself, you should ask help from the librarian, it's her (his) job to maintain silence in the library.

*Sigh* If only they had said "orange" so many lives would have been saved. But, no, it was only "banana", "banana", "banana"...
