After living in Chicago, in my parent's house for twenty-four years, I am finally moving out! I am really excited, but it has been such a rollercoaster of emotions. I booked movers, which is awesome. I booked a one-way ticket to Seattle, which was one of the greatest feelings ever. I have two job interviews for two different landscaping companies. Yay! [Big Grin]

But my living situation is still up in the air. I was supposed to move in with my oldest friend in world, but that all fell through. She talked to another friend of ours, and I talked to him Friday. He rents a house with at least three other people, and they have an extra room. So I'm thinking that is where I'll be living. The issue is that he said he would email me the landlord's contact info yesterday, and he hasn't yet. I will be paying for the whole month of September, even though I'm not getting in til the 8th. I'm getting nervous because the first of the month is Saturday, and I think it would be ridiculous to be late for the first month's rent. I kind of want to call him and remind him that I need that info asap, but I don't want to be too pushy. Plus I need to get everything packed and ready to go by the 7th.

Okay. Okay. Everything will come together. I just keep telling myself that, and so far it's been working out. I just would like to definitely know where I'm staying before I show up on somebody's doorstep with a suitcase and a sleeping bag saying, "Hi. Can I sleep on your floor indefinitely?"

I feel like I've known a fair number of people who were sleeping on someone else's floor (or couch, or chair) indefinitely in Seattle. The housing situation in Seattle is kinda dumb.

That said, the city has a lot to say for it. Good luck with your move, and with getting situated.

Hey, cool! I think you'll like it here.

(I think here's another reason for a get together!)

I really need to get my act together and actually plan one. I've been meaning to for months, if not years. I still have everyone's contact information from last time!

If things go as planned, I think I'll be living in Wallingford. If things don't go as planned I will be sleeping on the floors of a variety of people in Capitol Hill.

I am really excited to be moving out there. I can't wait to start hiking and rock climbing! Part of the reason I'm moving is to be closer to nature, but not to have to live in the country. Seattle seems perfect for that.

I would love to meet all you Seattle folk once I'm out there! Yay! More new people to meet! [Smile]

There's a very good chance I'll be in Seattle with Mrs. BB this Thanksgiving, or perhaps around Christmas. But that's just an FYI.

Yay! I will definitely be living in Wallingford. Things are coming together slowly but surely. Ack, and I only have a little over a week to pack everything, get some luggage, deal with all my finances, say my goodbyes to Chicago....

Rock on - Wallingford's a cool little nieghborhood. Holler when you're in town and I'll buy you a beer.

BB - that goes for you, too, although probably something substantially less alcoholic!

You've got Rainier just a stone's throw away. That place is cool to hike in. Spokane isn't bad either when it comes to being in a city, and being able to drive 10 minutes and be in complete wilderness. [Wink]

Yeah, I think initially I'm going to be overwhelmed by all the beautiful mountains everywhere. I am, after all, from Chicago aka heart of the flatland.

I went to grad school in Seattle. My husband lived in Wallingford for a couple of years before we got married so I'm quite familiar with the area.

The best Sushi I've ever found (and I've had Sushi all over, including in Japan) is at a little place in Wallingford. I'd tell you the details but I'm not sure I want to post it on a internet forum. The place doesn't take reservations, doesn't take credit cards and always has a waiting line. I go there when ever I'm in Seattle and I'd hate to make the waiting line any longer.

Aw, Rabbit, you can let me in your secret. [Wink] I promise I'll be too poor to eat out more than once or twice a month.

And, eek! only a few days left. I have this intense feeling of anticipation. I'm almost all packed, but there is still so much to do. It's extremely strange at this point to think that I won't be living here anymore. Strange and good.

I do. I feel almost like I'm moving to Ireland. Only I don't need to get a passport, visa, work permit, etc. But I still get that rainy, green, beautiful place to live.

The funny thing is Seattle's skies aren't exceptionally gray - the northeast coast gets worse. People are always surprised when I tell them that we get lovely blue skies starting in February, and I saw only a handful of really bad, rainy days between June and October this year.

I'm here! Yay! Now I'm going to wander aimlessly so I get oriented to Wallingford. Mainly, I must go to the grocery store. I need food. Now. [Big Grin]
