So I guess the other 126 "laughing episodes" were caused by the other seven between them. Does Scalia's apparent humourist bent show in his decisions, concurrences, and dissents?

Yes. Scalia's opinions, although I rarely agree with them, are by far the most entertaining Supreme Court opinions to read.

He does have a sense of humor, it's true, but somehow that's never the part of his written opinions that stands out to me. To me, he actually comes across as rude, cranky, and occasionally unprofessional, besides politically very conservative.
