So ya I was tagging along following some friends who were going to drive me to "The Vault" a recreation center and we stop by their locker first, so Tyler askes Kevin what the combo is and Kevin anwsers.
I kept a mental note but then Tyler asked "hy Blayne what do the numbers 32, 50, 52 and 3 all have in common"?
I think for a second and ask for him to repeat them.
Tyler goes "I dont have to"
"Why?" rather surprised.
"Because you already forgot the locker combination"

Thats how I interpreted it, quite the astute friend.
I typically when around friends make a mental note NOT to remember their private numbers. I look away when people are entering their pin numbers.

Three is obviously just experimental error. What, you're going to trust Blayne to write down the correct numbers?

As a bank employee, I would never deliberately look at another person's PIN. But I did once guess a friend's PIN after he mentioned it was the date of a historical event.
How many hundreds of events do we learn about in school? I got his in one try. It was a little eerie.
So the moral of the story is don't give your friends hints as to what your number is. They just might guess.

I couldn't get into my computer one day because I'd forgotten the password. My friend came in and got it in one try. It was disturbing.

I don't think I've ever known what year the pilgrims landed. And I really don't think that's one of the three most important dates in American history. Not even in the top ten.

It actually wasn't an American event. And let's face it, if you guess enough numbers, you're bound to get it eventually.
With four numbers 0-9 that can repeat you have 10,000 combinations. So I suppose it could be a while. But then I'm still trying to figure out how hackers get around the "three wrong tries and you're locked out" part of the security system.
