I really want to go to the Coachella Valley Musical Festival this year. For those who don't know, it's a HUGE annual concert at the end of April. 3 days of dozens of bands.
To give you an idea, here are some of the artists they have lined up that you may have heard of: Arctic Monkeys, Bjork, Brother Ali, Busdriver, DJ Shadow, Faithless, Felix da Housecat, Interpol, the Jesus & Mary Chain, Stephen Marley feat. Jr. Gong, Sonic Youth, The Arcade Fire, The Decemberists, Fountains of Wayne, Ghostface Killah, Gotan Project, LCD Soundsystem, MSTRKRFT, The New Pornographers, Ozomatli, Portishead, Red Hot Chili Peppers, DJ Tiesto, Air, Crowded House, Willie Nelson, Placebo, Rage Against the Machine, Damien Rice, Rodrigo y Gabriela, The Roots, and Paul van Dyk.
Does anyone else have plans to go? It's mighty expensive - a 3 day pass is $249 - but totally worth it, imo.

If I hadn't just depleted all my finances visiting Seattle, I would love to go. Bjork in the desert? Beautiful. Plus so many other awesome looking acts. Bah on my brokeness and living in the mid-west which wouldn't make getting there any easier. Posts: 511 | Registered: Mar 2006

Well, Coachella and Bonnaroo. Don't worry, much like the Pixies, I bet we see another Rage tour soon.

This man speaks the truth!
Oh man Rage is performing again!? Too bad they generally stink live, but why won't they cut another album!?

Me and Mrs_Maven like festivals, we're just waiting for Baby_Maven to get older so he can come too (and wriggle to the front of the beer tent queues - yes, we are bad parents.)
Mind you, all except Portishead. I saw them at the Brixton Academy in London and it's the only gig that I've been asked to be quiet in - 'cos you couldn't hear the band.
Album = Awesome. Live = Not worth the ticket (unless you have insomnia issues )

The best thing, for me that is, would be VNV Nation. I love those guys a whole lot. Watching and hearing them live would be the bestest thing ever.

My boyfriend showed me the lineup yesterday and I completely freaked out. I wanna go soooo much but unfortunately we live in Louisiana and don't have tons of money to spend on a trip to California. But oh my god, I really really really want to go. If we somehow pull together the money and end up going, I'll be sure to let y'all know so maybe some jatraqueros could try to get together there.
