My dad is retiring his laptop and giving it to me so I don't have to deal with my current computer.
I'm getting it tomorrow.
Not that you guys will care much but I wanted to ask you guys if HP makes a good laptop. I'm not much of a computer expert and I know some of you know much more than I, but I feel that it's still going to be able to run with the more demanding programs. 2.6 ghz pentium4 widescreen 20" tft screen The video memory shares system ram, and it has 512 mb, is that enough to run say... Half-Life 2? I got that game for my birthday back in October and have yet to play it with any reasonable amount of speed. Even with a resolution as low as 1024x768!
What do you guys think about how long this thing will last me? Does anybody have any idea what kind of system requirements StarCraft 2 will have?
Is it pretty simple to add RAM to laptops? Thanks for your advice on the matter.

*laugh* You may be able to run Half-Life 2 with most of the settings turned down, but that is NOT a gaming laptop. HL2 is at the upper bound of things that will run on that system.
You can add RAM fairly easily, and that would be a worthwhile upgrade.

HL2 scales fairly well in my experience, but you're using integrated/shared (read: not enough) memory so yah...what Tom said.
