I heard that debate once and saw a screen-capture from a comic where Supes helps Batman out unasked, so Batman, being Batman, is pissed and takes a swing at Supes. Superman moves out of the way so quickly that there is still an afterimage. He then says something along the lines of "Typical, try that again and I promise I won't move... and that every bone in your hand will be broken." If they got into a serious fight then Batman wouldn't have time to take out kryptonite, just as Goku wouldn't have 25 minutes to charge up to super saijan, or do one of his long attacks that takes a minute to say the name of before he can do it... KAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA *thud*... so much for Kamehameha.
Edit: I just glanced at the finished product and realized that apparently I don't know how to separate paragraphs. I would work through it and find good places to divide, but It would be tedious. My apologies.

According to continuity, Batman has the largest cache of Kryptonite on Earth, reserved just in case Superman goes bad.
