We might have a brain programming glitch that gets (some of) us all fired up about what other people are doing around us. There is a brief nod that this may have some implications for understanding the characteristics of the autism spectrum, but that still seems quite speculative.

This was the only bit that jumped out at me. It hints at a rather common misunderstanding of evolution. There are many possible reasons why such genes would not be selected against. It all depends on how you define "self-interest."
