Watching Lost tonight we had Clair's mother.

Now I know that it didn't explicitly say she was Australian, but considering she's Clair's mother, it's a decent assumption.

The actress playing Clair actually is from Australia.

The actress playing her mother demonstrably is not.

How can you tell?

First, watch any episode with Clair in it. That's an Australian accent.

Go watch Lethal Weapon 2. Fast forward to the scene where Danny Glover tries to emigrate to South Africa.

Listen carefully.

When he says 'But, but.... you're blick!' - that's a South African accent.

Not. the. same. thing.

Thus ends the PSA.

It's easier than you think - the Aussie's play in yellow shirts and the Saffers in green.

Easy.

Claire's mother is originally from South Africa. She happens to live in Australia.

I don't see the problem.

Well there you go. I didn't realise that. It'd be far from the first time I've heard a mangled version of an Aussie accent on OS TV.

Just a tongue-in-cheek comment. Hardly the most frivolous thing posted here.

Anyway, the art of the fanwank is all about taking movies and TV shows too seriously.
