This was on our national news tonight. Sounds promising (note: "petrol" is what we call gasoline in New Zealand).

Heh. Kiwis will save us all. (Not sarcastic- I am truly blown away by the number of innovations that come out of New Zealand. By population, you get far more than your share. [Smile] )

I suppose it's a good thing, although the article is so vague that I'm left not knowing whether to take it seriously.

NZ innovations/inventions:
first suuccessful shipment of refrigerated meat (exporting to Britain in the 19th Century)
electric fences
jet boats

EARTH SHATTERING INVENTIONS ALL!! [Wink]

The article's pretty much as reported on the news cast. The fact that the government's bankrolling them to the tune of $NZ12m means that they're taking it pretty seriously.

Yup. What happened to all that hydrogen technology that Detroit's supposed to have repressed?

I hear ya, but based on the kinds of things that occasionally get government funding in this country (US), that's still not enough to convince me the technology has real promise. Perhaps the NZ gov't has a better track record. [Smile]

It comes up in dreams, and in occasional Freudian slips when Detroit means to be talking about something else. "We're going to enact a program to prevent hydrogen...err...heroin use...Ahem."

I'm working on it. I posted this on the other side, but there isn't much traffic there.

GM is working on hydrogen fuel cell vehicles in Tarrytown and Rochester NY

...And partial responsibility for the three-dimensional printer that can print copies of itself that was discussed, I believe, on the opposite side of the board.
