I love to hear what people dream about. I really don't get into "WHAT DOES THAT MEAN?" but I often have dreams over and over or bits happen again and again.
1) putting saline solution on my contacts makes them bigger until I have to use my whole hand to get them in. (and oddly I can see just fine with out them in)
2)teeth falling out
3)Prom is in 1/2 hour and I have no dress (I have been out of high school for 15 years)

I too have the teeth falling out recurring dream which to me is terrifying. Sometimes the teeth just disintegrate rather than fall out.

I used to have a recurring dream where a man would approach this mean looking robot head inside a kitchen cupboard and a voice from somewhere would yell out, "no, don't!" and an instant later the man would be knocked over and start being flung around the room like a rag doll all while some dramatic scary string/brass ensemble music played. I first had it on the night of Christmas Eve when I was 5 or 6, and I believe I have had it about 3-4 times with the last instance being over a decade ago.

I have had a teeth related dream also, I just am outside in the cold, walk into a house and drink something hot, then they shatter.

I have another dream that is a kind of horror movie type dream, but it never seems to be all that frightening. I more wonder why all the lightbulbs are red.

Yeah, I've had the teeth falling out (or more likely, crumbling) dream before, too. My psychology major roommate in college said one popular theory was all about stress and anxiety, which seems only natural. It's not a like a failure dream, but it's certaily disturbing.

The one I can remember best of that type, a tooth went loose and then fell out, and it wasn't so much that that freaked me out than it was not being able to find a container with a lid so that I could put it in milk and take it to the dentist to be fixed. Dreams. Pft.

I tend not to have too many recurring dreams, but they do tend to revolve around defeating aliens, zombies, magical creatures, etc., and saving everyone. Most of the time, a lot of good progress is made before I wake up.

The most recent dream I had that I can recall went like this (typed it up the other day):
So, I had this strange and anxious dream last night. It featured the characters (in all their quirkiness) of Corner Gas. Apparently, one of them had a hot dog shop and was in the habit of going on week long vacations (no, I haven't watched the Brent vacation episode recently) and asking someone to mind the shop for him/her in his/her absence. The last time this person was away, I believe it was Wanda who took over the shop. In the dream, though, a vacation had been scheduled and I had been volunteered to be the minder of the hot dog place. I finally found out and at first said, "Hey, sure!" Soon, however, I realized how impossible the task would be because I hadn't asked about getting off from my own job (apparently Baltimore City where my real life job is and Dog River, Saskatchewan are near neighbors in Tel'aran'rhiod ;]) and knew it would be impossible to get over to the hot dog shop the few times a day necessary to 'mind' it properly. Think of the hot dog shop as a pet or plants or something. There were no other workers in the shop, but it was somehow okay to only be there for five minutes at a time a couple times a day. Anyway, by the end of the dream I was trying to find Wanda to ask her if she could mind it again since she obviously knew what to do. She also worked closer, only a few stores away from the hot dog place as opposed to several minutes' drive. And of course, as dreams go, the location of the gas station and all were not at all situated like they are in the television show.

I used to have this re-occuring set of events, I would somehow figure out that I was in a dream and that all my senses were somehow numb compared to real life. Then I would launch myself by biking off towers, launching myself off playground swings, and what not in an attempt to see what would happen if I died in a dream.

The dream I have every night....

I'm falling over the sea, theres a single concrete platform that is supported by a small metal pillar raising it above the blue water. I fall and fall until I hit it. Then Orange.

Did you ever flip over the bar on one of those playground swings, you know, like Inside-Out Boy of Nickelodeon fame?

There is this one where I meet a Giant and have to play a guessing game. The Giant sets two drinks down in front of me (they are different every time) and I have to choose the one that is not poison to go to Fairyland.

Strange...

I've had a huge contact lens dream too. Now what the heck is that all about?

I've never had a teeth falling out dream, nor had I ever heard of them before until I recently read a novel in which a Salvadoran woman (and later her husband) had them. They were regarded as evil portents by the characters.

I haven't had this dream in a long time, but a common anxiety dream of mine for years after college was the end of semester "oh no, I registered for a class I haven't attended all semester and now I have to take the final and I'm going to fail the class!" dream.

I've had a recurring dream (only recurred a few times) where the basement would flood when I was in it and I'd be stuck swimming around in it. I could breath in the water though so I was fine. It was fun to just swim around and not have to worry about coming up for air. Sometimes my breathing was a little muffled (I think those times I must have been under the blankets or something).

Another one was when I would literally throw myself at the ground and miss and end up swimming through the air. I was swimming -- but flying. I would swim all over the world until I woke up. It was a lot of fun.

I've stopped having those dreams since I quit the swim team. Sad they were both a lot of fun...

I have reoccurring zombie dreams. In them I'm always trying to figure out how to either blockade my house against the zombies or how to escape them in various situations.

I've come to the conclusion that my house is not very zombie proof-able. It's a combination of many ground-level windows & two sets of glass doors, along with a dog that barks at anything that comes to our house. On the other hand, I feel pretty secure in my ability to escape with the family, as long as we can get out ahead of the DC traffic.

I have recurring dreams where my students are suddenly making ridiculous mistakes that we have long since corrected. Then i wake up and go to work where the dream, alas, is true.

Why is it so hard for some students to figure out how a key signature works?!

I have the teeth falling out dream. I always assumed those dreams were on nights I grind my teeth. I also have a lot of dreams about bad people chasing me (last night the bad people were zombies, but they aren't always). I think I am too stressed in life.

I have the dream about forgetting I'm signed up for a class and not going all term and now it's the final. I think of it as one of a series throughout my life of recurring neglected-responsibility dreams. Later ones were often about being in charge of someone's baby (never my own) and forgetting all about it until it was almost dead of dehydration. I've never been pregnant or had a child of my own in any dream. That's weird I think. In the few years after I bought my first house, I would have house-falling-apart dreams in which I would be walking through a house (not necessarily my house just any house) and the floor would be caving in, the steps would be half gone, etc.

Another recurring one is the tornado dream. What's odd is that the tornadoes in my dreams don't act like real tornadoes. As long as you're 1 foot away from the funnel, you're fine in my dreams. Just don't touch the funnel itself. An odd variation is that while I worked in San Francisco for 3 months, I had probably 8 earthquake dreams and no tornado dreams at all. There weren't actually any earthquakes while I was there. My regular tornado dreams just turned into earthquake dreams in that locale. lol. I have the occasional rare tsunami dream too, though my mom has these all the time.

Lastly, I have many many recurring apocalyptic dreams of all sorts of variations from asteroid impact to all out nuclear war to the moon hitting the earth to alien invasions in which they hardly notice humans but just wipe us clean the way you'd wipe the ants off your new kitchen countertop when you moved in. I can't even think of all the variations there have been. I'm quite used to waking up with some new ghastly scenario in my head of the demise of the planet and all its denizens.

Just last night (this morning early, actually) I had a dream in which I was in a nuclear plant and a pulper feed conveyor was running (oddly, since they're in paper mills not nuclear plants) and these two young kids were playing on the conveyor and nobody stopped it or did anything before they slowly rose to the top and fell off the end into the pulper, dying instantly. What's weird is that not only did nobody do anything, they didn't even stop the process to fish out the bodies afterward. I woke up feeling like that was a dire warning that I was blithely overlooking something that was gradually killing someone for whom I'm responsible. Since my cat Mouse died recently, and since my other cat Felicity is ill and my mother is ill and my son is ill and I'm ill, I'm not sure which of us that pertains to. Perhaps all of us. At least the kids seemed really happy the whole time until they hit.

I also have had a recurring dream about my teeth falling out, though I don't have it anymore. I'm finding it fascinating that so many people have.

I have a recurring bad dream, where I am in college and it is finals week. I suddenly realize that I have a final exam for a class that I have not been attending all semester, because I forgot I was enrolled in this class. It is too late to drop the class, so I now have to cram an entire semester into one night. The specifics of the dream change, such as where I'm going to school, what the class is, and whether it is the night before, or the day of, the test; but I have been having this recurring dream for almost 20 years.

I used to have dreams about losing my hair, but not so much any more. I've had teeth-losing dreams, but the one that sticks out in my mind was when it was my mom who was losing teeth instead of me.

One common recurring theme has been an object in the dream that I deeply desire to possess, and when I wake up I feel a strong sense of loss.

Lately I've been having dreams of finding worms or larvae in my food or various nasties trying to get into my eyes or mouth.

I always have dreams in which I am in big, sprawling houses or schools with a lot of rooms and doors, and I'm either having to change clothes in a room with multiple doors that don't lock and people keep walking in and out, or I'm supposed to get everyone ready to go somewhere and there are things we need scattered everywhere and everyone keeps going off in different directions and we are going to be TOTALLY LATE!

I rarely have recurring dreams. So rarely that I can't remember any. [Smile]

But I'd never heard of the teeth falling out dreams. Which is strange, because just today I had a dream where I had a tooth giving me problems. To summarize it, I was having a debate with a man on whether free-trade or fair-trade was better for American prosperity(I'm a geek deal with me,) and while he was giving his rebuttal, I noticed that one of my teeth was broken. Specifically, when I brushed my tongue across it, half of the tooth would wiggle and shoot pain through my gums. The funny thing with the dream is that I went to my mother and said, "Hey, mom? I'm having a bit of a dental malfunction. I think I need to see a doctor, like... now."
"I see, but you know, it's four o'clock in the afternoon I doubt they'd be able to see you on such short notice."
"Yeah, but this is kind of one of those ASAP problems."
"Oh... well, your father has an appointment in two weeks, we could have you go in his place."
"Um, mom, seriously. Problem tooth. Need help now."
(She magically calls them in a second.)
"They have an opening next week, would that work for you?"

So yeah, there's my first teeth falling-out/crumbling dream. And I think it's fascinating that the dream came during a nap I had shortly after a frustrating and stressful meeting.

I have lots of weird dreams with strange interactions with people. Maybe I'll tell you folks about my dream where people tried to drug me through slices of cucumber one day.

I've had the teeth dream.

I also tend to have a fair number of "horrible bridge" dreams. Basically, I'd be on a bridge, and no matter how wide or stable it is I'd be forced to balance desperately and hug the surface in order to not fall off. Usually I make it, but it's always a very near thing.

Also, any time I have a cool power in a dream, I always seem to lose it by the end. Doesn't matter if it's flying, telekinesis, or anything else cool and supernatural, it's always gone by the end of the dream. My suspicion is that this comes from part of my mind realizing say "hey, you can't really do that. Cut it out!".

I've had the huge contact dream before, but it's not recurring. Still, that's weird.

I have some extremely weird dreams. I used to have a lot of recurring ones when I was younger. One involved me hiding under the bed while this monster tried to get at me, and then I'd run outside and fly away, every time. Another one involved my brother dressed up as an Indian burning me with acid. The only one I've had recently that I used to have when I was younger was this shadow on the wall that held me down in my bed.

I used to dream all the time that I was getting up, taking a shower, etc, and then I'd wake up to find I hadn't done any of it and had to do it all over again. That dream used to really piss me off.

That is the WORST. And then getting yelled at by whoever was waking you up, and it's like, I thought I was doing it!

I've never really had recurring dreams in the usual sense, but there's nights where I have the same dream over and over during the night. I think I'm trying to fix something that didn't make sense in the dream, but I don't seem very good at it.

I also have dreams about 9-16 digit part numbers from my work. The dreams rarely involve the actual plant or anyone I work with. I'll have to figure out some world changing government project using the part number for a 48" sheet of plywood.
I've had dreams where I'm not flying but I can jump/bounce high. I can feel going up and down but in super-slow motion.

Whoa! I've had recurring dreams where I did that slow-mo-bouncing thing, too. I've heard a lot of people who've had flying dreams, but I've never heard of someone else with that variation.

I also had recurring dreams where I'm doing whatever normal thing I need to do that day, running errands or whatever, only I'm naked. Ironically, the whole public-nudity issue is never disconcerting until I realize that I need to pee, and THAT is apparently appalling and distressing. Dreams are weird.

I had a kind of funny dream recently. I dreamt that the building I live in has a basement (it actually doesn't). I dreamt I had to go down into the basement to get something.

The next night, I dreamt that I had to go back down into the basement because I left the light on in the dream from the night before.

I had this dream recently where I had to get to a meeting, and these police officers came to get me and take me to the meeting. And a friend called, and the other managers tried to take away my phone so I couldn't hear what he said. He was yelling to me that I was there so they could fire me. When all the other managers realized that I knew, they started pointing and laughing at me and saying that they couldn't believe that I was dumb enough to think I was good at my job. Then my teeth fell out, and I realized that I was old and looked like a homeless person and that no one would ever hire me ever again.

Wow I also have teeth dreams! I never would have guessed it was a popular subject. For me, it's usually that my teeth become very loose and I'm trying to keep them in the socket. Eventually they do fall out and I feel like I'm chewing them around in my mouth.
