Me too. My favorite characters in the world were Kara and Barry Allen.
And while the movie did suck intensely, I've watched it more than once. Just to see Supergirl flying. And because I had a crush on Helen Slater, which was later cemented by her role in Ruthless People.

quote:Slater was perfect for the part because she was pretty, in good physical condition, and had a face that was as expressionless as a dinner plate. When making a movie about a hero with super powers, the last thing you want is for audiences to be able to relate emotionally to him or her.
In fairness, that exact set of attributes worked for Christopher Reeve.

I like the clip at the bottom of that page.
Inner monologue of scumbag #2:
Huh, that's weird. It looked like she just used Super Breath to knock my friend through a fence. Not to worry - it was probably just a coincidence. If not, I have my handy 3 inch Swiss Army Knife & Gale Deflector. Oh, she sees it now. Yep, this is going to work. Ouch! It got really hot, as if she was able to affect its temperature with the laser beams that seemed to be coming out of her eyes. Oh well, I'm sure whatever telepyretics she can manage are confined to small metal objects. Not to worry - I'll just act amused and eager to show her who's boss. She's almost mine. Oof! What made her foot touch my chest right when my body sailed backwards as if punched by the fist of God?
