I don't want to cheat on this test, but it seems like that's how you get hired at Starbucks, Best Buy, and now Lenscrafter's apparently.
Ugh, I was going to rant and rave here, but that'd just be a waste of time.
How is everyone else doing it? Seriously, after 90 days and Heinz 57 Resume Varieties later I'm wondering what I'm doing wrong.

My room mate was rejected from a couple jobs for failing the Unicru test. Seriously I've read some of the questions from it and the test looks pretty stupid.
They have a question that goes something along the lines of:

I just googled it and somebody had what was supposedly an answer key for it...apparently I would only get about 15-20 out of the 100 questions right.

Short answer: you do not want any job where Unicru is being used. Seriously. It is a red flag that tells you, "This is not a job worth having. This is a job that you will always regret."

The job that I might be getting soon didn't use Unicru, but select2perform. The people there (Lenscrafters) didn't seem like Walmart drones...
Normally I wouldn't try these places Tom, but I've been sending out resumes for over a month now, and hardly anything has followed through. I get "we're following through with another candidate". I'm unemployed and broke, I just need to find something that's stimulating(sales), is part-time (32hr max), is easy on my hand (sales), and pays the bills while I continue art studies.
I got a "green" on the test though, so I'll be coming in tomorrow for a 2nd interview! Hope this goes well.

Oh god I recently did one of those tests for a job application. Such a stupid test.
You are right, though. It is almost definitely a job I don't want.
The test itself is vile, to be honest. And the look of the correct answers makes it look even more vile. It's almost like they aren't looking for human beings but instead something more akin to a colony insect.

Durn... No wonder I fail so many of those tests. Not only am I too honest, but I make a poor drone. Plus haven't they heard of middle ground? I hate crowds, but i'd happily go to a Dir en grey concert with bells on. Ect.

Everyone's criticisms notwithstanding...You do what you have to do.
If you need a job to get by, any job can suffice.
I took a job that required a couple of those tests. I'm anything but a 'colony drone', but I thought the test was ridiculously easy to pass. I was honest on the parts of the test that looked like traps; I transparently provided the answers they wanted on most of the questions. Looking back, it seems like just a formal hoop to jump through in the hiring process.
Yes, the job was horrible. However, it was a paying job, and it got me started. I know it's cliche, but life isn't always easy. Anyone who thinks a 'drone' job is beneath them might need a wake-up call. (That's not aimed at anyone in this thread in particular.)

I legitimately do think a drone job is beneath me. Do I necessarily need a wake-up call? Or can something like this be a legitimate and worthwhile apprehension of self-worth?

I consider a drone job beneath me, but it I needed a job and that was all I could get, I would take it and be thankful.

I don't think there would ever be an occasion that would make me thankful for a drone job. It might be necessary, but that's like saying I'd be thankful if my leg were amputated after a horrible accident.

I'm glad I had a job, it was briefly necessary. I'm not thankful for how worthless it was. I can proudly say the job was, and would still be, beneath me. But pride wouldn't stop me from doing it all over again, given the other options.

Yeah, I'll be working sales and doing lab stuff to create the lenses. The latter seems more interesting to my artsy side, which the manager picked up on, so I'm looking forward to both.
Yeah, it's just temporary until my art skills are good enough that I can confidently tackle any freelance jobs. Looking forward to that day. My goal is to finish my 3rd drawing study in 1 month. Start oil painting before the end of the year, and finish the entire program before next summer. And learn anatomy somewhere in between there. Posts: 1236 | Registered: Mar 2002
