Many here today already think I'm certifiable; the rest of you will be convinced when I finish speaking.

Once, I read an author who said that magic must always have a cost and a limit. Sure, it has a price, just as you pay for electricity and fossil fuels, which power your science.

Your scientists can attach a human ear to a rat. I suppose I could do that too, if I had the cruel spirit of a scientist. You can build skyscrapers that pierce the clouds, and then knock those buildings down with an airplane. I couldn't do either with my magic.

Before I go on, I'll tell you this is a cautionary tale. This is what happens when I tried to find the limits of magic ... and science. This story is why you shouldn't vote for me, today.

No idea where this is going, how long it will be or what it will be. It was a fluke that came to me, so my question here if it works and if you'd keep reading. (In other words, should I finish it?) Nothing more to read right now, so not seeking readers yet

I'd read further. I like tales of magic OR science gone wrong, especially when it involves pride and ego. There was one nit, but a small one. You mix tenses in the line "This is what happens when I tried". either happened/tried or happens/try? Spin a good one!

So that's not you talking?...

One thing that confused me (but would probably be clear soon) is if it is called 'vote for wizard' why he is telling them not to. Otherwise looks interesting.

I think something nice could come up from there. A retrospective MC who looks back what he did wrong it's a good start.

"This story is why you shouldn't vote for me, today." A politian who asks not to be voted, now that's original.

I'd keep reading, there's a hook and nothing horrible to turn me off.

It feels like this is going two different ways, one is the wizard defending his magic and the other is the wizard exposing the evil of his magic. (Just as he's running for president and yet running away from it.) I'd like to read either, I'm not sure I'd like to read both in the same moment. (perhaps if it's one way to begin with and then turns that would be fine.)
