Did You Write 07-16-07?

I started this weekly question, years ago, as a way to embarrass me into writing. I found it never worked for me. I did find that it helped others to get off their duff and write. I let it go last year, partly because one of my favorite writing boards made it difficult to post these or anything else, and also because it was cutting into my work time at the time. This year, I remembered about the notes decided to start it up again.

ON the science fiction/fantasy story ideas I write, I am running an idea ahead for the month, but I have a day coming up where I will not be able to post so that will even me up. I have three stacks of story ideas for my compost pile. My never-to-be-posted-except-when-really-desperate-stack has 177 ideas in it. I have another stack with 16 ideas, which was culled from the older stack, then I have my "new to be posted" stack which has 67 ideas in it. I will combine the 16 with the 67 a bit later. I have come up with all those ideas while continuously posting an idea a day. Those are all ideas that I came up with and did not have time to post. IN the last stack are my best stuff, if I ever get to it. Of course, there are some that will never be posted, but I am not throwing them out. My stacks will simply get bigger or I will run into more time.

I posted my sixth romance story idea yesterday. In good year, I come up with a dozen romance story ideas. They are a more specialized form, though many times I can convert my science fiction/fantasy ideas into romance if they fit.

I wrote a new Waxy Dragon story this week. My original piece, written in about an hour, came out to be 2255 words, 4 pages. I popped it off to my writing partner, Nancy, and it became 4766 words, 10 pages, as she added flavor to my initial inspiration. I usually do heavy editing before sending it out, but I was so excited with what I created, I sent it to her within hours of finishing it. The end result, with my final edit, came out fantastic. That was the 49th Waxy Dragon story I've come up with.

Outside of writing, I dropped a two and a half foot long 4"x4" on my big toe. I had pulled some stuff to the side to make clearance for what my brother was doing, and when I was pushing the stuff back, the board stood up on end, and headed straight down on my toe. Other than being a bit black and blue, it does not hurt much, which is a real surprise. I guess I have no brains. (no brains, no pain).
I finished assembling my second three legged stool, and it looks good. I am getting the finish on it for display. It looks pretty.
I made handles for three of the four carving knives I am making, and have one of them carving sharp. I may have to replace one of the handles because of a little problem I had when putting the handles on. I will make two handles when I make the last one.

Anyway, to the question of DID YOU WRITE?
I can definitely say YES.

So, the next question is, did you submit to a publisher today? I did.

Been a while since I was last here, but yes I wrote!! Not much but I did, for the first time in a few weeks I actually wrote! No more than 300 words but I did write some! I'm quite pleased with myself for that effort.

Well, I wrote more of my novel, as usual, at five hundred words a day, also as usual. A couple more days of this level of output and I should pass the ninety-thousand word mark. I think some of it will need a good deal of revising later but I'm making progress and still keeping a few steps ahead in the plotting department.

As for submissions, well, I bundled up the novelette that was bounced by F & SF and sent it off to Asimov's. Except for lost and missing manuscripts from years ago, that's all I've got out at market right now.
