For manuscript format, I've heard that a # character should be used for a scene break. Is that just one # character left-aligned, or is it centered or is there three of them centered?

I've devolved over time (and looking at other people's stuff) to using one, centered. But I'm not sure exactly who I got it from. Either Rick Norville or Inarticulate Babbler, probably.

Concur...if you're doublespacing, also standard usage. End of line and scene...down...centered "#"...down...beginning of next line and scene.
