We had the smallest participation since the 13 hook challenge started so many months ago (four). We could use a few extra voters, please so if you could please take a look

we would appreciate it.

Man, I'm so depressed. I really like the first 13 challenges. I've participated every week since I joined in July. I also wrote this weeks synopsis! Honestly, I didn't write the Death I just consort with a bunch of 3D graphics API developers who think all game programmers are lazy and stupid. Taking potshots at game developers is a hobby. 8)

Honestly, was it the synopsis? Could I have done better? I would feel really bad if my synopsis was the stake to the heart for the first 13 challenges. 8(

Nah. I don't think your synopsis was the problem. I think it's been slowly dying for awhile. I must admit that with the Ready for Market, the flash challenges, and other things going on, I kind of slapped my entry together in a couple minutes.

I liked the synopsis. I thought it was a fun idea. I've seen WOW players at it, so it wasn't a that far of a stretch.

Thanks, that's good to know. Actually I slapped my entry together too because I was working on my WoTF and Sudden fiction entires. It's almost like I graduated from the 13 to bigger things.

As a pretty new member of this board, the 13 line Challenge was/is a low stress way to put something out there for review. It's allowed me to have something that was complete, in some sense of the word, with significantly less work than a 3000 word short.

Those first few posts of work can be terrifying- they were for me. Hell, they still are! The first 13, and the 13 line fiction challenge were how I eased my way into posting more and participating more. Now that I have all the experience my vast 2 months of participation brings (LOL), I can see what a difference it made.

I also participate in Kelley Armstrong's board and have not been nearly as active because the only way to participate fully is to post fairly complete work. The barrier to entry is much higher.

The way I saw it, you guys were mentoring me. It helped, a lot. Anyway, I just wanted to provide the newbies view of the first 13.

Personally, I think that the contest has run out of steam. I think three months off and then a highly publicized return after Christmas would re-invigorate the whole thing.

No, it wasnt the synopsis. For me it was just about time. I learned long ago if I want to win, I had to spend time. If I just threw it together, my writing suffered.

Your synopsis was just fine, LAJD. They have been losing steam, new writers have been keeping it going.
It will continue until the day I used the last synopsis writer entry, then I will write the last one.
Tiergan has the next one but no takers after him.

I like Skadder's suggestion - and Snapper's. Let it run it's current course, go on hiatus and then have a highly publicized return in early 09.

I just hate to see it die.

It definitely was'nt your synopsis. I just got a promotion of sorts (coming soon to Grist) and I was really bogged down with new paperwork over the last two weeks.

I also have a strange since of humor, which can be sharp in print and often pops-up at inappropriate times, and I thought that I might have pissed-off a few people (please forgive me if I do and email me and ask me to refrain).
