Some of us need to make plans many, many months in advance for this sort of thing. Does anyone have any news? There is nothing at the main Hatrack web site.

I only have the resources to attend one pay-to-go writing event this year. It's good to have the dates finally up. I will have to check them out and see if they fit into my schedule more easily than the event I am currently eyeing.

Damn. I was hoping it would be in Utah this year. =(
I will go, on a couple of conditions.
First, only if I got accepted to the actual boot camp.
Second, only if I feel my writing is at the right level of "professionalism". I don't want to go and waste his time with work that could be improved with very simple things.

I believe I will apply to attend this year. I will have to pinch some pennies but laying in a hospital November through December tought me that you only live once. Meeting Mr. Card is something I would certainly like to do before I go out. I think it will be a great learning expirience. If nothing else convince me that I take myself seriously as a writer.

I echo your sentiments, Bent Tree. I would love to hear him speak. It would inspire me sooo much to keep writing.
It'd also be cool to see that even he, an amazing writer, is human like the rest of us. Then I won't feel the need to grow myself some robot arms to keep up with the rest of you all >.>.

I believe Card reads the applications himself so he'll make sure he's not wasting anyone's time; his own or yours. He's pretty up front about it.
I disagree with just about everything Card writes in his reviews and political opinions, but after having just gotten back from another workshop--where my personal/political opinions are compatible with 99% of the people there--I'd say that Card's was more informative concerning actual writing. He's blunt without being personal, and his critiquing process asks the right questions.

That's only about 70 miles from me. I could fork out the $175 for the 2-day seminar, but my wife would shoot me over spending $725 for the boot camp. Not unless I finished and sold a novel between now and then.

Rick, I don't agree with much of his political stances, either. That said, I don't like being around those with only the same opinions as my own. It's boring, and seeing other views is interesting to me.
Besides that, I wouldn't expect to see political lectures ;D
I'm glad to hear that you found his workshop of good quality.

I'm thinking about applying this year. I really wanted to attend Clarion but it's so much more expensive and I don't think I can afford that.

Clarion sounds great. But yeah, it would take a lot of money. Worth it, if you can afford it, I guess.
