I recieved this in an e-mail from a friend who also has dogs. It's apparently an actual exchange between two churches in some small town. The original e-mail had photos of the signs. These messages appeared on the signs in front of the churches. I'm leaving the denominations out, but it's apparent that the first church has a much better sense of humor. I'm sure there's a story idea in here.

Church 1: All dogs go to heaven.

Church 2: Only humans go to heaven. Read the bible.

Church 1: God loves all his creations, dogs included.

Church 2: Dogs don't have souls. This is not open for debate.

Church 1: {Denomination 1} dogs go to heaven. {Denomination 2} dogs can talk to their pastor.

Church 2: Converting to {Denomination 1} does not magically grant your dog a soul.

Church 1: Free dog souls with conversion.

Church 2: Dogs are animals. There aren't any rocks in heaven either.

Church 1: All rocks go to heaven.

do Werewolves have souls? we are half human and half wolf, and dogs came from Wolves, but we are inmortal and when i do die, i am reborn identical to how i have always been.

so... i think the question is do any of us realy have souls? and acording to my god and goddess everything living has a soul.

Last time I checked, humans are animals. We fall into the same classification as chimps, gorillas and orangatangs. We are all primates. Sooooo, that church stating that animals don't have souls would include humans by definition. I sure could've had fun if I could've gotten in on that discussion .

Crystal, I would imagine that church would reject your premise.

From the exchange, I don't think Church 2 is open to very much in the way of discussion. But they do appear to be easily needled. After all, it didn't take much to get this whole thing started.

Maybe I should apply to join church number one. They seem like my type of people. I especially liked that all rocks go to heaven. My head is full of them.

I could see this dialogue continuing this way:

Church 2: Rocks do not have souls either.

Church 1:"Upon this rock, I shall build my church."

Church 2: That refers to a symbolic "rock".

Church 1: It was satan who tempted Jesus to turn a rock to bread.

Church 2: It was a stone.

Church 1: Now you are playing semantics.

Church 2: The point is neither rocks nor stones have souls.

Church 1: Then "whoever among you is without sin, let him cast the first stone."

In the immortal words of Archie Bunker, "Who'd wanna go to heaven if it's full of dogs and flies?"

Aww, I'm sad I initially missed this thread. I'm also sad it doesn't appear to have actually happened - it'd be much funnier if it had. Apparently (1) it was some internet humor generated with a Church Signs Generator website, the big clue being that the background in each photo is the same. Damn I hate that. Almost as much as those annoying people who post in someone's thread trying to debunk it.

*kicks self*

Oh well. It still inspired me to write a short story. So, that's okay, even if it isn't true.

And it gave me a good laugh, too.
