We need to turn this thread into the single's redux that we had before. This could actually be useful! [Wink]
quote:
You have a special zeal for life

You're a woman with a very balanced personality and lifestyle. You believe in making room in life to relax, think, and have fun. You refuse to settle long-term for a boring job or doing something just because it's expected of you. Love is the same way. You know what real love feels like and you'll accept no imitations! You pride yourself on not being the "typical woman." You're more honest and straightforward than most women. But just because you don't "wear your heart on your sleeve" doesn't mean you lack deep feelings. In fact, you're deeply committed to your loved ones and the causes you believe in. Women as truly balanced as you are very rare.

Sounds pretty accurate. I don't know, what do you guys think?

quote:
You face two major challenges in finding the love of your life. First, because your mind is so busy making sure you say and do the right things on dates, it's hard for your deeper and caring self to come through. It feels risky to share this part of yourself. Second, although having a vision of what you want can be helpful, the risk is that your high standards can get in the way of loving a real-life, imperfect man.
quote:
He'll be an enigma

You're looking for a man who can be your lover AND your best friend! You want someone you can count on to do what he says and say what he means. He'll have strong values and lots of common sense. Chances are he'll be actively involved in social, religious or community organizations. Though he can be charming and outgoing at times, he'll also have a quiet and private side. In some ways, he may be hard to get to know, especially emotionally. But he's worth the effort! Behind his conservative clothes and reserved exterior, is an honest, down-to-earth man who's capable of the type of commitment you're looking for.

So, are there any enigmas wandering around?

*shades eyes with hand and stands on tip-toe to get a better look*

You have a dazzling personality
You're a man with a very balanced personality and life style. You believe in making room in life to relax, think, and have fun. You're honest and straightforward (at times to a fault!). But just because you don't "wear your heart on your sleeve" doesn't mean you lack deep feelings. Someone who'll appreciate your smarts and charm will want to invest the time to get to know the deeper sensual side of you.

"Dazzling" may be a bit too superlative to be accurate...

Personality tests confuse me:

1. At parties, do you tend to talk to a lot of people, or sit by yourself?

Sit by myself.

2. Would you describe yourself as quick to open up, or slow to open up?

Slow to open up.

We have decided that you are introverted, and may do best alone. You aren't quick to share your feelings with others.

...

I mean, how difficult is that? They ask you how you react to certain situations, and then they tell you how you'll likely react to certain situations. AND the more questions the test has, the less remarkable it is. It just seems like they are regurgitating back what you told them. I'm never very amazed.

Here we go ladies [Smile]

quote:
You're smart, insightful, and have an insatiable curiosity about life. You have a vision for how you want your life to be, so you refuse to settle long-term for a boring job or doing something just because it's expected of you. Life should be "balanced" with plenty of time for fun, spontaneity, and romance! Because you're independent and a little shy, you only let a few people get especially close. Still, you have an emotional depth that most men lack. You're ready and able to experience romance and a powerful "spark" with someone special.
This one is off a bit, but close (At least, I think my girlfriend would disagree, or maybe I "go with the flow" now):

quote:
You believe dating and life in general is about learning and growing as a person. You're a great listener, so women tend to enjoy going out with you. However, it's hard for you to have a real intellectual connection with an attractive woman. Hopefully, you've found a way to "go with the flow" in dating as you already do in other parts of your life.
And then there is this one!

quote:
You have a pretty even-tempered personality and may not have any especially annoying or quirky habits. Of course, seeming to be "perfect" could be seen as a flaw by some, in which case you may just want to pretend to have a bad habit!
That's right Jatraqueras, I'm perfect (what's the deal with quotes around perfect anyway?? [Smile] ).

Yet, only 1% of you are strongly attracted to my personality. Hmmm.

That's interesting and all... but does it tell me whether you will go all in with two pairs with a possible flush draw after the turn? [Smile]

Bok starts with: 4H 8H

*Bok checks as the BB*

Flop: AD 4S 7D

*People hardly bet... Bok decides to buy one more card to see if he could improve his pair*

Turn: 8D

R.Berg bets the pot. Bok raises 2x pot. R.Berg is all in.

Darn you and your skills. [Smile]

Upon Richard (or was it Saxon's) advice, I picked up Skalansky's book. Actually, I bought the new edition by mistake (for advanced players). Ack. Apparently you made the right move acccording to the master.

I'm too impulsive. My bets in poker are more of an act of aggression than calculation, like driving is for some people. I need a therapist. [Smile]

Who You Are

You're loved, and for good reasons
You bring a certain passion to life that most men lack. You'll stand up and fight for causes you believe in. You have a vision for how to live the "good life" so you refuse to settle long-term for a boring job or doing something just because it's expected of you. Life should be "balanced" with plenty of time for fun, spontaneity, and romance! You're blessed with good friends and appreciate the people in your life. In fact, you put the ones you love ahead of everything else. Unlike most guys, you're not afraid to talk about (and feel!) emotions. In fact, you're ready and able to experience romance and a powerful "spark" with someone special.

What's dating all about to you?
Falling in love is a spiritual experience for you. A truly loving relationship helps bring meaning to your life. You try hard to make your date feel comfortable and have a good time. You're good at anticipating what other people need and giving it to them. But inside, you're usually on an emotional roller coaster. You don't want to reject nice women, but also take it very personally if you're the one rejected.

Although your compassion for women is a very attractive quality, your focus on her can get in the way of getting what you want and need. It's crucial to find a way to "go with the flow" in dating as you already do in other parts of your life.

How unique is your type?
Your personality profile is similar to a number of men your age. Looking at over 10,000 men who have taken the test, about 6% (or 1 in 16 men) have very similar beliefs, values, and habits. Of course, the way these qualities are expressed in you is what makes you so unique.

How many other men have personalities like you?

Quirks women notice
Like all men, you have your strengths as well as your quirks and shortcomings. Ultimately, you want to find someone who will love and accept you "warts and all." Though you have lots of friends, it's important to have at least one person who understands.

Because you're a big-hearted man, at times you can be swayed too much by emotions and a desire to keep your friends and family happy.
Preferring to keep your options and plans open can hurt you at times when you need to commit to something (or someone!) that can't be put off indefinitely.
Some days when you're in a bad mood and can't hide it, co-workers or friends take it personally and think you're upset at them.
Do women like your type?
Notice that 43% of women are generally attracted to your personality type. 10% say they are VERY attracted. With the millions of people on Match.com, that translates into lots of potential matches.

Who You're Looking For

She'll be an enigma
You're looking for a woman with an artistic and sensual nature. She's typically easygoing and believes in living in the here and now. But she's also willing to take a stand for social or environmental causes she believes in. She's rather reserved and quiet, so she can be hard to get to know. She's more likely to express her feelings through actions and art, rather than through words. But as you spend more one-on-one time with her, you'll discover an exceptionally kind and compassionate woman. Like most women, she's not afraid of her emotions. In fact, the two of you will probably experience an immediate, passionate connection.

You don't expect your partner to be in a good mood all the time. You understand that sometimes your partner will be down, get pessimistic or worry too much. These days are balanced by the many good days the two of you will share. In fact, you share a number of positive qualities, including:

She's very in tune with and considerate of others' feelings.
She has a "back bone" and won't be pushed around by other people.
You can appreciate each other's "dark side" and don't have to pretend that you're happy all the time.

Number of women your type
Women with the exact type of personality you prefer are rare gems. Looking at over 10,000 women who have taken this test, only 5% (or 1 in 20 women) have the exact combination of similarities and contrasts in personality you find extremely appealing.

However, there's a larger group, 19% (or 1 in 5 women), who have most, but not all, of the qualities and habits you like. These subgroups are charted below.

Approximately One-third of the women have at least some of the traits you find attractive.

But you'd have a negative reaction to 9% (or 1 in 11 women), who have some or many of the characteristics you clearly dislike.

How many women are your "ideal" type?

Opposites sometimes attract
You want to share your life with someone who has the same values, goals, and style you have. Research has shown that couples who have more in common tend to stay together longer. Still, sometimes differences can help create a "spark" and excitement about each other. Part of you wants to be more like her, or at least have her unique style in your life. She could be good for you in many ways:

Her quiet and gentle nature can have a calming effect on you and release you from having to be "on" all the time.
Quirks you can tolerate
The truth is that everyone is potentially "high maintenance." We all have our quirks and shortcomings. The key to long-term harmony is finding a woman who can tolerate (or maybe even enjoy) your "quirks," or the little personal oddities that make you unique. You seem okay with several common quirks that might come along with your "ideal" woman:

You can honor her need to be quiet and have "alone time."
On days when her mind is clouded by sadness or worries, you're willing to offer extra support and patience.
You can appreciate that her big heart lets her be swayed too much by emotions and a desire to keep her friends and family happy.
Downside of your "ideal"
In addition to her quirks, your "ideal" personality type may have other qualities that are more frustrating or challenging to deal with. Under stress, her quirks can become serious "flaws." But remember, these quirks are the "flip side of the coin," or the extreme end of qualities you otherwise find appealing. So, be prepared if:

Her hesitancy to go to parties or out with large groups could stand in the way of staying connected with your friends and doing some of your favorite activities.
Deal breakers
You seem ready to adapt to the good and frustrating qualities of the women you're looking for, but there are types of women you clearly do NOT like. Women's habits and attitudes you'd have a hard time putting up with include:

Your responses suggest that you are pretty accepting and tolerant of shortcomings. No major personality "deal breakers" or reasons to rule out potential dates were identified.
Trade-offs you'll face

Good Qualities Challenging Qualities
Cares deeply for a few very close friends. Has little desire to branch out and meet new people.
Tries to balance a creative and imaginative side, with "real world" pragmatics about what you can and cannot do. Promising ideas are often dropped if they don't succeed right away.
Sensitivity to emotions promotes greater insight and compassion for you and others. Emotions can cloud judgment and thinking.
Not afraid to make tough decisions and move ahead. Jumps too quickly to make decisions, because waiting is so hard to do.

Sex

Romantic sex
Good sex is important to you, but it's only one of many ways you connect emotionally with your partner. Whether it's sexual or simply an affectionate touch, you give and receive pleasure easily.

Among men your age, your particular combination of sexual drive and interests is similar to about 1 in 6 men (16%).

Is she sexually compatible?
You're looking for someone who values the quality of sex over the quantity. Ideally, you'd like someone who is talented at keeping sex new, fun and exciting.

What's ahead for you sexually?
A good sexual match plays a key role in your "ideal" relationship. You've kept your "wild," sexual side in check, but with the right woman you could open up the floodgates and let your sexy ideas and temptations flow. If you can bring your natural creativity and imagination to the bedroom, your sex life will never be boring. You know what it's like to emotionally connect with someone and truly make love (vs. just having sex). It'll be hard (or impossible) to settle for anything less. Someone as loving and sensual as you should hold out for a woman who shares your passions.

Attraction Science

What is personality?
Personality is the set of traits and characteristics that make each of us unique yet relatively stable and consistent over time.

- People see and interpret the world differently.
- They want different things.
- They make decisions differently.
- They get excited and energized by different situations.
- They structure their careers, social life, and private time in different ways.

What does personality have to do with attraction?
The way in which people are similar or different in personality strongly affects their attraction to one another. Two people with similar values are more likely to become (and stay) friends or a couple, indeed part of compatibility is having "common ground." However, for many people, compatibility may also involve a balance between each other's quirks and differences.

And they have it right.
